For those with mobile offices...
What type of printer do you have in your car? I had a Brother MFC 7820 last summer, but the heat killed it. What do you do to keep the heat from ruining it during the hot summer days?

I cover it up and also have tinted windows and crack the windows when I park so the vehicle doesn't get to hot inside.
I have another question, though. I use a Brother in the truck without issue and it takes a lot of heat with me living in the SoCal desert. It is 3 years old. But if you use the wrong kind of inverter, you can kill it with that. Are you using a true sine wave inverter? If not, get one and make sure it's capacity is at least 20% over what you would be using with all your accessories on. Those auto parts inverters can be tough on electronic equipment.

Glenn is correct. Using the wrong type of inverter will ruin your equipment and may even damage your battery.
There is guy here in Florida that owns a SS and not only does he recommend using a 300 watt non-sine, plug into you lighter inverter, he also sells them. This guy obviously did not do his homework and could be putting his NSAs in danger of damaging their equipment and even their vehicles....What a MoMo.

I have more difficulty in the cold months. My brother printer worked fine in the heat.

I have tinted windows and I cover it up with a towel. My brother I had in it worked fine and I moved it into my office and put my HP 1320. It does not do too well in the extreme heat like my brother did. My plan is to purchase a brother for my car. I have a separate scanner for ID's and I want to get a brother laser, scan printer that takes up less space. I going to me a guy today for lunch from a title company that has a Van and he has table and chairs set up, an entire office with laptop, laser printer. He contacted me Friday after he found my website.

I have used an HP 1320 and an old Samsung SCX 4216 with no problems. I just got an HP 7110 all in one (for FREE off freecycle.org) and I have replaced the Samsung with it. I have tinted windows, but do not cover the printers up...maybe I should. The only problem I have had is with my inverter overheating in hot weather after my vehicle has been sitting. I simply run the a/c on high for a few minutes and the inverter fires up fine without triggering the alarm.
Are you using pure sine inverter? Are you using an inverter with enough juice?

2000 watt AIMS Pure Sine is what I have.
But I'm out all day, I mean gone from 8am to about 9pm, and very rarely is there any shade to park in. The weather here is like Florida, 98 degrees and 95% humidity in the summer month. If fried in mid august last year.

It's not something I do all the time. Less and less these days.
Due to the large geographic area I cover though, if I am going to be a ways from my home office, I won't miss any business when I am 50 -100 miles from home if I take this equipment with me.
