Getting VERY few calls

I'm in Illinois about 35 miles west of Chicago. February was great, but since then I've had 2 calls a week (sometimes 1). I have been told by several SS and TC that they were having a hard time getting a notary to do the assignment, so I know I was not the first one they called...maybe the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th. It's quite disheartening.

Same for me only even worse! When I do get a call it's always a low-baller and not worth my time/expenses. I've been doing lots of odds and ends work on the side whenever possible trying to avoid having to "get a real job!" I figure that in addition to the fact that the market is dead, I need to do more advertising. Trouble is having the money to market at this time when I'm trying to just keep my financial head from going under! Hope for all of us that things turn around soon!

Thant's mainly due to the fact that there are notaries in Illinois that are doing Re-fi's for $50.00 and Loan Mod's for $30.00. How can we compete with that?

Roger... How can they make money doing that? How can they pay their bills? I wish there wasn't so much negotiating in in this business.

Don't really know but they have really cheapened the notary business as far as I am concerned here in Illinois and for that matter throughout the country.....JMO! Until we all take a stand there will always be someone who will take and undercut our fees even if they aren't making money. I would like for all of the Illinois signing agents to form an alliance and that way we can all make a living without giving our services away.

It is so true that some of the IL Notaries have sunken to the ultimate low...accepting refi's for $50! What the Hell!
