Home prices rose 0.6% in February demonstrating that

there is still no better investment than real estate!

"HOME PRICES ROSE 0.6 PERCENT IN FEBRUARY ACCORDING TO MONTHLY HOUSING INDEX
U.S. home prices rose by roughly 0.6 percent between January and February according to the latest monthly House Price Index from the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO). Since its peak in April 2007, the index is down 3.1 percent."

The index is down from its peak in April 2007 but that only means that homes are not appreciating as fast but they are still appreciating. Smile

Maybe in CA or "overall"

But locally here, the housing prices are still in decline, according to the latest local figures. For Citrus County, FL, the average price of homes declined 0.2% in February, though the national average increased. (Seasonally adjusted.)

Not so good in March

from Bloomberg, dated April 22:

Purchases dropped 2 percent, less than forecast, to an annual rate of 4.93 million, from 5.03 million in February, the National Association of Realtors said today in Washington. The median sales price declined 7.7 percent from a year earlier.
