Re: eSign broadband equipment test

Do you pay for an additional plan to use your phone as a modem? Sprint told me that I would have to pay an additional $40 to use the phone a modem???? Just curious- if you are paying extra? Thanks!!!

Yes. It's called 'BroadbandAccess Connect'. It costs $15 a month.

Re: eSign broadband equipment test

I've got to say, Leon, your set up looks like a major PITA and would never work here in Florida. What do you do when it rains? What do you do when it's 90 degrees or freezing outside? Not very practical, IMO. I'm curious as to why you didn't mount the inverter under the passengers seat and install a passenger side laptop stand? Definitely would be more ergonomic.

I'm lucky and have an SUV. Everything (two printers, inverter & laptop) fit nicely in the back deck of my vehicle making a perfect mobile office.

Search this forum for "mobile office" for pointers and tips on how to set up a mobile office that is functional.

The table was set up so that I could take photos. Everything normally stays inside the car. It works very well.

I have a question about forum policy

I'm not criticizing, I'm just asking. Isn't posting links to our own blog considered advertising? I've seen other's here that have had their posts removed or have been told to stop by Harry. I've always thought that once in a while might be fine, but that it would be inappropriate to use this forum to regularly post articles and draw traffic to our own sites. But if it's ok, then great for me, here's a link to my blog:

http://blog.detroitnotary.com/

I'll start posting links to my articles here too.

Great idea, Al. I'll go take pictures of my mobile set up

and post them on my websites. I can always use more traffic and more google hits! Wink

Re: I have a question about forum policy - Al

I have an answer to your question about forum policy...The following posts of Leon's were previously deleted because they contained links to his blog. The reason was stated as "Advertising".

I have received one "Message Deleted" myself because I shared a title company name who was looking for notaries in Texas. I have never done that again because I was told that it was inappropriate.

The following messages are Leon's. It seems like they really do not want us doing that without asking permission first.

Those that can DO. Those that can't teach. And, those that can't learn the rules blame their ignorance on the "I'm just trying to help" line. When the truth of the matter is; he is just trying to build up AR points so he stays at the top of google searches. And, that is the rest of the story folks.

Maybe some Ginko Biloba is in order. I hear it does wonders for an aging memory.

Leon & Advertising on this forum.

It sure seems to me that Leon thinks that NotRot is here to help promote his personal blog since the last few times I have seen Leon post, he has posted a link to his blog. Apparently, Leon is not willing to return the favor to Harry. I posted the same response on Leon's blog that I posted on this forum with a link t o NotRot and guess what? Leon deleted my post on his blog.

Leon, if you are not willing to return a favor, I would suggest that you quit promoting your blog on Harry's site. I don't wish to police you, but will request that all post made by you promoting your personal experiences on your blog be deleted for advertising.

Below is what Leon deleted for his blog...sad that he can't take criticism or at least return give credit to the site driving traffic to his blog. So very sad, Leon.

I've been mobile since 2005 and I've got to say, Leon, your set up looks like a major PITA and would never work here in Florida. What do you do when it rains? Re: Leon & Advertising on this forum.

Hi Becca:

I complained about Leon a few months back and a bunch of the regulars jumped me about him being just a harmless little person. I agree with you completely, he should be deleted. It seems that Leon has been totally self-serving almost every time he posts. He just keeps flogging his blog!

Thanks, Chuck. I just sent Harry an email.

It get tired of seeing certain members push the envelope, touting their helpfulness only because they have an overbearing need to feel self important.

I sent Harry an email too, asking to delete my post.

>> Harry,

I apologize if I have done anything to break your rules, or to offend anyone on Notary Rotary. My intent is only to share information with fellow notaries. Feel free to remove the posts if they do violate the rules.

Also, I want you to know that I do promote Notary Rotary in as many ways as possible. I have written articles on how best to use Notary Rotary. I have recently added prominent links to Notary Rotary on my website and blog. And I have paid for a Premier membership each year that I have been a member of Notary Rotary -- another way of promoting your business. And I have purchased supplies from Notary Rotary.

Again, I merely want to share -- not to offend. I know of no other way to share photos.

Sincerely,

Leon Austin

Re: I sent Harry an email too, asking to delete my post.

Leon this is just my opinion. I have never consider your posts offensive or negative. IMHO I find them very informative. I spend all morning checking my cell plan and to see if a usb modem will work with my plan.

Your posts puts me to work and see other ways to better serve my clients. If you bring people to your website or if you advertise here, it is not my business since I don't own this website.

Darn - I found it interesting and thought it related

to notary work since it provides info on how he set up a mobile operation, and the comments were about how it works. I did not realize Harry has a separate forum for that specific topic. Oh wait. In order to find info about that specific topic, one has to do a search, right?
Actually it would be nice if Harry could provide a separate forum for discussion of esignings, with ongoing threads for specific aspects, like how to set up a mobile office, choosing the right equipment for your coverage areas, etc.
Harry provides the absolute best notary listing site, so such side forums would be a logical enhancement. JMHO

Oh, and threads here do not have how-to photos

That was one of the things I found helpful about Leon's blog. Trying to post all that, including photos, would be impossible here.
Oh, well, I'm certainly in the tiny minority, and the expert daily posters on this site have laid down the law. Smile

Re: Oh, and threads here do not have how-to photos

If you are truly interested in setting up a mobile office, search this forum for MANY posts from people that have done this without the need for a step by step instruction video...it's not that hard if you have a functioning brain. As for pictures, I have answered phone calls and emails from NSAs across the country asking for more info on setting up a mobile office. Many have asked for photos and I have forwarded them detailed photos showing set up and equipment.

I'm always baffled by the "gim'me" mentality people display here. What happened to the "make it happen" attitude that successful entrepreneurs live by?

Leon "made it happen". He certainly doesn't have the "gim'me" mentality . He did it, obviously very proud (and should be) and willing to share it. Whats so wrong with that?

Re: Darn - I found it interesting and thought it related

I personally don't like all the side forums that most of the other notary chat sites use for their set-up. I like it that I can go to one page on NotRot and all the messages are there. I can always skip a message thread if I don't want to read it. I don't visit the politics or leisure forums here on NotRot.

I don't have all the answers.

I don't claim to show someone how to set up a "mobile office".

That would depend on the type of vehicle that a person has, etc.

What I am merely showing is one person's way of accessing the internet. Sharing an idea -- with photos (not a video). That is all.

Everyone will find a way that works best for them, their equipment, their budget, etc.

Good luck to all. Smile
