Okay, after the last couple of days

As much as I like a little drama in my life, I need to get on with positive, productive and profitable things right now.

The last couple of days, well have been interesting. It's almost like driving by an accident, you keep going down the road but want to turn back to see how it all works out.

Let's ask Harry if he can change the way people post.

Every poster linked. I think he should even, instead of having 'poster names' have the person's or companies real name. That way it would cut down on posters who wish to say things and not be identified~it might even cut down on posters having more than one sign in name (which is disturbing).
Please forgive my grammer and spelling, I am a proud product of the PG, MD public school system.I mean that sincerely, I really enjoy learning from you which are more well spoken. Smile...really. I miss G Gordon.

Yes, Mr. Liddy

I used to love to listen to him on our am station. I miss him now. Funny thing is, his kids grew up in my neighborhood, but went to private schools, they did swim on our clubs swim team. ..even when he was in the big house. Mrs. Liddy was/is a strong women. They did have alot of cats, we called them liddies kitties.

aatatusko asked why not require posters to use their real name? It is a major operation to establish the real name of a computer user; the NNA thinks it's a big enough deal to launch their Trusted Enrollment Agent Program to achive it*. People who expect to get business through Notary Rotary have a motivation to give something fairly close to their real names, but people here to make trouble have no such motivation.

*Whether that program is mainly intended to actually enroll computer users, or is rather a tool to increase fees paid to the NNA by notaries, time will tell.

There are some here like me that do not hide. I post what I think, and you, or anyone can find me. Some are not so transparent. Why? Who cares? As far as the NNA..they have an agenda...to make as much $ as possible, from anyone. As for their current members.. Caveat Emptor. I love NR, but, I think they have strayed of late........

I quit linking after users of this forum bombarded me with rude emails because I posted to a "newbie" that they should have had a business plan and done research before deciding to start a business. Now I simply ignore the newbies and I don't link my profile.

I think the big problem is the 5 only hits on profiles

What does everyone think? Are you getting assignments? I like this website but I think this is a problem?

I think that you misunderstood the limits...

Employers have no limits, the limits are there for other categories of membership so that they don't harvest the names for purposes not condoned by this site such as SPAM. Also this question is a bit of a non-sequitur in this thread. Check the comments on the log-in page, Harry addresses the limits issue.

Then let me ask this question?

Are you all getting a lot of signings from this website?

Re: Then let me ask this question?

I haven't gotten anything from here that I'm aware of in many months. And I nearly always ask when I get a call from someone from whom I haven't heard before. I haven't taken the time to do lots of test searches lately, but I suspect that NotRot isn't showing up like it used to. Harry had mentioned something on here a while back about pay-per-click getting expensive, but I suspect he's not using SEO either...

I'm a member here because of the supplies, great service and to support this board -- which seems to be more active than most others (although that isn't always a positive....) I may consider re-evaluating that at some point.

I still receive a lot of calls from this site. I choose not to link my profile to keep tabs on how often my profile is seen.

Joan, what do you want to see done differently?

What would make you happy with NR?

I have received three calls within two weeks from this website. Of course, I'm in Texas and in my area there aren't many choices. I am it. It's probably more that California is saturated with signing agents and less about NR being unable to provide assignments to you.

Re: Joan, what do you want to see done differently?

If I do a Google search for "signing agent Ohio", Notary Rotary comes up second on the list of advertisers on the right. However, if I do a Google search for "notary Ohio", nothing shows up on the right, and Notary Rotary is at the bottom of the first page of hits. I get most of my referrals from another website, but like Janet, I'm here because I support the site and the board.

I'll throw in my .02 here just so it's on record

I still get the occasional call from someone who found me on NotRot...but nowhere near the number of calls I got when I first listed...I'd say maybe one/month. I, too, love this site for the knowledge that's shared, but am seriously wondering if premier membership is still worth the money - may (and I stress MAY) drop back to basic at renewal. Sorry Harry and all the powers that be, but that's the truth.

Re: I'll throw in my .02 here just so it's on record

I wonder if the slow down in calls for everyone is due to the slow down in the business? I always think in ratios.

x y
---- = ----
then now

(Let's see if that spaces right.)

Reply by BrendaTx on 4/4/08 12:44pm
Msg #242189

No, it didn't

The y should be over "now".

I still get calls from the info on this site

But it has slowed down to about the same ratio as the rest of biz.

The way I see it

Title companies and Signing Services come to sites like this to find a notary who will convey a sense of professionalism to their clients. They want someone with a good sense of business ethics who can relate well to their customers and put them at ease about their dealings with the company who has hired us.The notary they hire may very well be the only face that a title companies' client will ever see during a transaction and that title company wants someone they can feel good about sending out to deal with their client.

I have not received a call from anyone in over a year saying they found me on Notary Rotary. The title companies and signing services come on here and see the ridiculous junk going on here and move onto a site that is serious about the professional level of service offered by its' members.

I have seen countless TC's and SS's in here being bashed and I am amazed that no one has figured out this is NOT good for business. Not only does it hurt the individuals business, but it makes the whole group look bad. It's like going into Walmart and having the manager say to you, we have a lot of shoplifting going on so up against the wall and spread em. Same thing with our clients. Because some have burned you, you are going to be nasty to all of them?! I have had several conversations with Lenders and TC's who have said they dont use Notrot because it has turned into a three ring circus.

I wont be renewing this year and I dont think it will be much longer untill Notrot is just a forum for mean spirited notaries to go to bash each other. (or are we already there?!)

Re: The way I see it

I think that is a big factor, unfortunately. The sad part is that that does not represent a great many who post here. A few have managed to tarnish the reputation of all by association. I think that is something we all should be aware of and work to change. It hurts everyone here.

I also think it may have to do with the way the site is being marketed. Harry, you may want to reconsider SEO!! I just got my renewal notice for NR today. I will probably renew because of the savings on supplies, etc., but I will give it a lot of thought and do some pricing calculations before I do, where in previous years it was a slam dunk...

Re: I just did the same google search and notary rotary doesn't

Notary Oregon: NotRot is 3rd, after Oregon's SOS and NNA.

Signing Agent Oregon: NotRot is 8th, after 1-6 and then #7: ME! Smile
