Stamp Alert

I need to order a new notary stamp and wondering if I can get feedback on the best, most reliable out there. I've had mine for over 3 years and it's seen it's day and I don't want the same kind. Also, how long does it normally take to get a new one?
Thanks!!

Have you checked out the ones here? Good quality and extremely fast shipping!

Not sure, but:

I think you need to have a certificate to get the stamp. When you take the test, they give you a certificate, and you send it in with the money to get your stamp. Last time I passed my test and got my new stamp, I just ordered two stamps.

You are right,

you do need a cert to get one. You can go to the SOS and get the info on how to get a copy, I did this a couple years back, it cost 10$

Tish is not a new Notary, just needs a "new" stamp

I'm sure she's aware of the certificate issue.

The NotRot stamp is good, however if speed is a concern, Valley-Sierra Insurance (www.valley-sierra.com) in Fair Oaks, CA can turn your order around in 24-48 hours. You may have to come down to the flat lands to pick up. I've actually been able to pick up same day, of course, I live up the street.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, Thank you. Actually, i was looking for more like a specific brand or type that doesn't smudge after re filling and is crysta clear everytime. Is there such a stamp out there?

I've been using the Ideal Pocket Seal for some time now. After "re-inking" I stamp a piece of paper 10-15 times and I'm good to go.

If you order from NotRot, the stamp will come really fast, like within 2 - 3 days. I liked the Stingray stamp but last summer when my state began requiring the notary commission number on the notarization, I ordered the cheaper Vision stamp (only $5!) since I was already half-way through my commission. I don't feel it stamps as well. It's not uncommon to have a faded and/or slightly blurred area in the stamped impression when I use the Vision stamp. I have not tried Harry's new premium Brother stamp, but like I said the Stingray was good. I still carry it as my back-up stamp (I would just have to be sure to write my commission number under my signature line.)

I have a Printy Stamp, never had any problems with it in the 2 plus years that I have been using it.

If you've had yours for "over 3 years", keep in mind that you will need to get a new one when you renew your commission soon. Every time you renew, you are issued a new commission number and you have to get a new stamp (or stamps). When does your commission expire? Have you already begun the process? Mine expires in June and I took the mandatory class (online here) and exam in February. I think that was even cutting it a bit close.

To clarify other posts above, you need to write to the SOS to request a new Certificate of Authorization to purchase another notary stamp. The required details are all in the handbook. As mentioned, you will automatically receive one with a new commission.
