Title company and no payment for UPS shipment

I would like to ask for help to resolve the issue. I did signing on the 15 january 2008 for signing service. I shipped the package by UPS to the title company (with UPS acc. number). Now it's 30 april and I got the invoice for 40 bucks from UPS. I tried to contact the title company (Cambridge National title), but their phone is disconnected. I contacted SS, I am waiting for their response. What to do, if SS doesn't want to pay for it? Am I responsible to pay for it?

Always use the TC as the sender as well. Never put down your info.

That's fine if you can get away with, however, if somebody at UPS looks at the shipping airbill they will hand it right back to you. UPS requires an origination zip code/address.

- Now having said that, I try to do this (Pete's advise) as often as I can too just for the reason stated in the original post.

Not necessarily true - I never put my name on airbills - Sender and Recipient are always the same (TC or SS) and have never had a package rejected at the UPS Store...

It's possible you may be stuck paying the $40. Take the time to hand write the air bill. Never put your info in the FROM section when shipping docs. Put the TC info in both TO and FROM section. Or, you can put the hiring entity, the SS in the FROM section if the shipper requires that different info be in the TO and FROM sections. But do not put *your* info in the FROM section.

I did big mistake, because of my honesty (maybe not know it). I will never do it again. Thank you for your advice.

It's not about honesty, but strategy. Lesson learned....we all learn various lessons during our careers (and in life).

It's in the fine print, if receiver refuses to pay then the shipper get stuck with the bill plus a $10.00 reverse charge fee. Never put your information on the slip, always put TC as sender and receiver.

Yes, I did learned big lesson. I will never put my name on the label. I think UPS is only doing it, with Fedex never had this problem before.

There are those who have had same problem w/FedEx. Don't

be lulled into thinking that way because it hasn't happened to you yet. Mine was a FedEx, happily got resolved but that was long ago before all these companies started going out of business.

I will use the word naive rather than the first thought that came to my mind when I read this comment ... are you crazy? Do you think FE eats the fees but UPS doesn't?

I do not feel one bit sorry for anyone who has fees back charged to them. FOR YEARS those of us who learned first hand YEARS ago have been posting this info. Do not put your info on the label - do not have a pick up at your house - watch when you order bulk supplies because often they will include your account number in the tracking number ... As the other poster said, we all learned through trial and error.

All that said, thanks so much to the TN notary who forwarded a FE to me yesterday - and checked "bill recipient". That was a common occurrence years ago when virtually all packages were overnighted and the package came directly from the lenders but from another notary ... thanks a lot.

Wow...brassy....but how did he manage to get that put through without an account number? Account number is part and parcel of the "responsible party" section....just curious
