Todary National Notary Signing, Inc - Adviceeeeeee PLSSSS
Ok so I get this call from this signing company asking me to do a signing for 125 so I agree. The time was initially set for 8 about an hour later they call me back and ask me if we could make it 9 instead so I said yes but I would be able to get there till 9:15pm which I did. The borrower then called me at 8 and asked me if we could meet then because she got home earlier than expected but I had already based my schedule around the 9:00 time we had finalized it for. So when I get there she doesnt pick up the phone and the entrance to her house was her garage so there was no doorbell (very wierd the way the house was). So I call the person at the bank whom I was dealing with and let him know what happened he then tried to get a hold of her and he could either so half an hour into being there I start heading home. So during this time I am talking to the guy at the bank and he's just apologizing for me having had to go out there for nothing but what can you do I gues stuff happens. I then get a call from the borrower screaming her lungs off going on a complete rampage......because we couldnt sign.....I then called the guy again and told him what happened and he actually asked me if I could go back there and sign mind you it was already 10pm and I was a block away from home and the location of the signing was about 30-40 mins away. I am sorry for going into so much detail but I am soooo pissed I dont even want to do the signing tomorrow....I did call todaro and let them know what happened and they agreed to pay me an extra fee of 40....anyone experience this???? Has anyone done work for them????

Sounds like you handled it well. And SS is paying for return trip. Yes, have had weird b's (haven't we all). As to experience with this co. Nope. None.

You've already lost control of this signing because the borrower has a screw loose and going back is not likely to be a pretty situation. I would pass. It's just not worth $125 to let the borrower walk all over you and then go back and be nice-nice.

I would be reluctant to go back your on the borrowers turf, that behavior is unacceptable.

I also would refuse to go back.
Had one the other week where I rang the bell and patiently waited. Called on the phone (I could hear it ringing) and I patiently waited. Rang the bell again. Called the LO. Sat down on the porch and wrote the borrowers a note and tucked it in the door (rang the bell again since my hand was so close.) Got in my car and called again. Went home. An hour or so later I get a call that they are home - doorbell didn't work, can I go back. Not me because they weren't home, were in bed, or whatever and I'm not dealing with liars before I'm even inside the door.
Last week I get to the door and no one answers. I can hear them and know they're inside. I ring the bell a second time. No one. I call on the phone and he opens the front door. He says he has no idea why I'm there, no recognition of the LO's name or the lender. He then starts babbling in a VERY heavy accent and I basically understand almost nothing. Jabbering about bill consolidation, bankruptcy, something happening in 12 months, on and on. Hum, if he knows nothing about a mortgage, wonder why he's telling all this financial jibberish to a stranger on his porch? I call LO who is naturally surprised. Do I go back when the next call comes on this one? Not me.

I am with Sue- I am done with situations like that too!
I had a person not answer the door a while back. They had no front porch light and it was pitch black in the front of the house. There was a car blocking the driveway and a light on in the back- but I could not see past my own headlights. I am not walking down a dirt driveway....this was about 10 miles out in the country too. I honked my horn 2 times- cell phone did not work in rural area (I guess they are not a condidate for an e signing). Borrower never came to the front door. I proceed home after all of this and she calls me 1/2 hour latter- telling me that she heard me honking and that I should have come to the back door. Sorry I do not go down dark driveways to back doors- are you serious? We did end up meeting at her work the next day- after I told the lender and TC that I am not going back to that house after dark that is not properly lit- if you want me to do it- then I need to meet her during the day somewhere- they agreed to her office- and paid me an additional trip fee- the docs were not date sensitive.
People are just plain crazy and what they think is OK may not be OK with you- You have to stand up for yourself in this business!!!!

So right! They may be used to walking down their dark driveway, but for all you know, it may have been a dangerous situation, especially way out away from anything else. Some people just don't think.
