Waiting for docs, 2 hour 25 min drive
and I should have left half an hour ago to make it. Borrower contact number goes to voicemail of a young girl who sounds like she's chewing gum while recording her message. Then I get disconnected after being put on hold by LO who is trying to find out where the docs are and now I can only get THEIR voicemail...
Might need to add a keyboard fee for sitting here clicking 'get mail'.

Hope your being paid VERY well...
because I cannot imagine driving 2.5 hrs each way for ANY closing. My max is usually 1 hour & I hate even going that far!

SRes - I'm with you
I will drive an hour or 1.5 hours for an assignmen, but usually only for companies I already have an existing relationship with. If I'm going that far, I want to be sure I wll be paid for my time.

Re: Hope your being paid VERY well...
Yes they pay for my time and gas. I'm what you would call extremely rural, it takes me half an hour just to get to town so I have to play by a different set of rules than the city notaries. I've calculated my fees and gas into the equation and pretty much just have it down to charging by distance. Of course there are differences regarding the simple modification to a full blown double refi with over 400 hundred pages (and a borrower's copy) but that is discussed ahead of time so that anything exorbitant gets considered in the fees.
I won't leave the house for less than 75 and only then if it's a quickie within a few miles.

ummm...dude $75...still sucks...
I wouldn't leave the house for less than $125, if you're that rural, then they'll pay this even for a mod.

Do you have a contact with Title or Escrow? If so contact them for an ETA on docs. Also, someone should supply you with alternative phone #'s for the BO. LO should have those.

HA! Just got called by the borrower...
He was UPS'd the package Friday, drove into town and found a general notary to do the signing and sent them back. So the title co had a left hand that didn't know what the right hand was doing. I hope he received ALL the docs because I have several that DID come through that I'm about to destroy.
....man, and I get bank on these longer trips, oh well...

Don't be surprised if you get a call for a reschedule some ?'s come to mind were the docs date sensitive? If he got them on Friday did he get them notarized on Friday or did he wait until today.

Yep, the docs were dated.
He got them Friday afternoon and managed to find a notary who did it Friday. The docs are (were?) dated for today the 7th.

Re: Yep, the docs were dated.
I would probably put a star next to that company if they are that confused.
Youre a good person to drive 2.5 hours for someone you dont know as a steady customer---our clients meet us halfway at their fav restaurant or coffee shop.......
