$45 fees?

Just received a call from service link saying they are lowering their fees to $45.00 overnight plus $20 extra for edocs. Everyone who accepts this fee for their own county will be put on a "1"" list, if someone charges $50 they will be put on a "2"" list and so on... What I understand this means is that the schedulers have to call the 1 list first then the 2 list etc. Does that mean they may have to call double or even triple the people until the get to us who are charging more than the 45/60 dollar rate? Is there really anyone out there taking $45.00?

yes, I called today to find out if anyone in my county is doing them for that fee and they said yes. That is crazy. The money we spend especially in MD. to keep our title licenses is expensive... so how can a licensed agent make a living on these fee's?

Not that I will be accepting these fees- as I did not really work for them anyway b/c of their already low fee, however, they are probably doing this b/c of WAMU and they are going to loose a lot of thier business. Just my opinion.

read the financial reports about WAMU... back to Service Link... their files are typically 80+ pages... so you print that twice, so the borrower has a copy, then drive somewhere, then if it is Countrywide file, you have to fax back over 40 pages and they want to pay you $65 for all that... and that is only if they email.. .if they overnight the file it's $45. What is even more remarkable is there are people out there doing it for this fee.

They called me too and asked if I could lower my fees. I stood my ground and said no.

Not lowering my fees again....no, never, will not, no can do, not even thinking about it, it will never happen not working my fingers to the bone for $45.00. Good luck to all who are working for this fee, I have the feeling you may not be laughing all the way to the bank!

My home county ..

is 1,266 square miles in size (yes, that is twelve-hundred & sixty six square miles). Could you even start to imagine someone covering that kind of distance for only $45.

Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!

of course they told you their are notaries doing it for that price, did you expect them to say no? They tried it with me too and I told them my fee wasn't changing. They said they would call those with lower fees first, I told them I understand. But I am still getting calls from them everyday for my fee. I guess all of the $45 notaries are busy.

I think Nations Direct fees are lower.

$100 should be minimum for overnight docs and $135 minimum for edocs through a signing service, more through a title company!

I got the call too, I was told that 300 signings happened in my county alone in 6 months and I only did 38 of them. If I take the lower fee I will get priority and my number of signings can double or triple. Well they would have to double or triple just so I could make half a decent living. I told them my fee stands and they gave me the old "Well we have to look at the bottom line here." Gas went up 10 cents in 2 days and the Sam's Club (only club store here and the cheapest for me ) stopped selling legal paper. My bottom line stands firm.

they said the same thing to me and if they would double or triple the volume, how could you as one person do them all... you can't.

I got the same call. I was told that back in August they merged with ATM? And, that if I took the lower fee that I would get more volume. I said no it would just absolutely not work for me.Does anyone know if that only applies to ATM? Or, to all of Servicelinks closings.

And, if I got more volume I would have turn down assignments anyway. Can't be at two places at one time.

excellent advice Sylvia...working for $45 or less-insulting!

For TCs my min is $175 w/edocs which adjusts according to the type of loan, etc. and this price is AFTER I lowered my prices. I can't afford to work lower than this, just not economical.

I'm really truly amazed that some notaries think they are better off accepting jobs for $45 for volume work. If they would only do the math, it doesn't add up.

PLEASE notaries who accept low ball fees...DO THE MATH!

Re: My home county ..

I'd rather substitue teach for $65 a day and babysit arrogant entitled teenagers than to stoup that low. At least I wouldn't have to take anyone to court or beg for my money!

just be clear...

$45 - $50 for mods, 20 or less pages, 15 mins tops - um MAYBE...but for a refi, 1st/2nd or other more tedious work, no way.

Re: just be clear...

Just think, if you do them for $45 and you get the volume, you can declare bankruptcy quicker.
