eSign (eClosing) web page

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I would set up a separate page on my website for eSigning. It's set up:

http://www.austin-notaryservices.com/e_sign.html

For now it gives a description of the technology I have, and there are some photos of my equipment. In the near future I'll add some links and other useful information. I'll keep adding to it.

Hopefully it will give you some ideas if you decide to set up a separate page on your website.

Good luck.

I have a wireless air mouse, a laptop and a Treo <Sprint> Looks like I need the wireless card <Sprint> and the software...and what else? I'm not buying anything yet but wonder what else I would need and what does it cost?

I would contact Sprint and find out what your options are and what type of plan is best for you.

Good luck.

Yes, for the air card...but what else is needed.

That is why I suggested getting with Sprint. It all depends on what plans they have available for accessing the internet. Talk to a representative. Tell them what equipment you have, and what you want to do. They will make recommendations for you. Then you decide what you can afford, etc.

Basic technical question for anyone

I'm in the beginning stages of researching all this, so this is probably a dumb question. My laptop has a built-in wireless card. Does that make the Treo-acting-as-modem unnecessary?

I'm running on Vista, too. I was bummed to read below that a borrower's computer running Vista couldn't complete the operation! I hope that's a bug they get worked out before long...

That will only get you wifi from another signal.
You are going to need a modem/aircard to get the signal.

Re: My laptop has a built-in wireless card

Thanks, Misty. I think I just got a couple of the items backwards. I knew I needed an aircard. I guess the built-in wireless takes the place of the "Verizon wireless BroadbandAccess Connect" and the Treo serves as the aircard? Time for me to start talking to some network suppliers, as Leon suggested.

My laptop also has Wi-Fi capabilities. But if there is no Wi-Fi hotspot, then I have to be able to access the internet in another way. In this case -- the Treo working as a wireless modem.

I have a choice. I can get on the internet in two ways. But if I didn't have the Treo (or a PC card), then I would only have one way.

Re: My laptop has a built-in wireless card

I am unable to personally answer all of the emails and PMs, so I have added a couple of links that will hopefully shed a bit more light on the subject. There are a couple of video presentations on eClosings. And I will continue to add more information as time goes by. I promise.

Good luck.

Think about the Wear & Tear on a laptop

I have 2 very expensive laptop computers. One I purchased last year, and one this year. I'm on HD #3 for last years. I come to find out when I'm having this years model built, that while the one I purchased last year, is a laptop, that does not mean that is built for mobility! Not what I wanted to hear. Come to find out that last years model, was meant to be mobile around the house, so taking it in the car all the time, between my 3 offices, was too much for it. So this year I upgraded to an even more expensive laptop, that I could game on if I wanted that is truly mobile.

Do I want to take my very expensive, truly mobile laptop into borrowers homes? NO! Do I want to bring the machine with my life on it into these peoples homes? NO! Do I want to leave it in the car on a 95 degree 95% humidity day while I have a paper closing between e-closings? NO.

I'm thinking of purchasing another laptop with a little more than the minimum requirements, and having no more than the OS, IE and adobe on it for these e-closings.

Re: Think about the Wear & Tear on a laptop

I'm considering a second laptop as well. I prefer to use my ThinkPad in my office as a second computer. It does just about everything that my desktop PC does. So it seems like a bit of overkill to be using it for something that doesn't require the ability to watch DVDs, yadda yadda ...

There's also the matter of cats walking across laptops. They do it on tables, don't they? Smile

Re: Think about the Wear & Tear on a laptop

I am an animal lover, and the critters know it, smell it on me, and cats that hide away even from their owners, come out to visit me. I end up with cats lying on the docs, on my lap, on the back of my chair, and dogs sleeping under my feet. I can imagine that the laptop will be drooled and slobbered on, walked over, and sniffed, nudged and also become a place to collect animal hair.

Panasonc is another one of my favorites, they're just about

bullet proof. I had one I used to program PLCs in a former life and one day while reprogramming a piece of industrial equijpment I designed the serial port had a potential difference of over 400VAC across the port because the plan had crossed its power trains wrong. It fried the port but the computer didn't skip a beat. It was win95 machine and I gae it to a friend who wanted some of the electronics analysis programs on it and he is still using it today.

I'd love to have a ruggedized one!

Re: This one is more real

That's why I bought a ThinkPad. It can withstand even more abuse than that. There is a commercial that shows a ThinkPad that was in a house fire. The case was a little warped, but it worked. I wouldn't buy anything else.
