eSign: "it is here"

I wanted to share with you some information about eSignings, and the technology (with photos and graphics) that I will be using for doing these:

eSign: "it is here"

Good luck.

Good info. Do you intend to do this for your 'standard' fee? Which seems to be all they want to pay.

Look for the rates to go in the cellar as more and more

notaries get onto the eSigning bandwagon. How do you differentiate yourself if all that is necessary is one notarization and standard equipment? Where is the skill? Signings are going to be a commodity and nothing else. Look eventually for the POA to be given at origination and the signing to be done in the comfort of one's home with not strangers coming to visit. The notary who remains is the one who can contain their costs the best.

As Always, Leon, ....thanks

I appreciate your posts. I find them to be informative and sometimes even entertaining. This week I received my first call from the general public asking me about my ability to conduct eNotarization and I'm glad I was able to oblige him. This isn't the same thing as NNA's Enoja although I plan on checking into that in the next six months. I'm up for a new phone in July will make sure whatever I get it has the same capabilities of your TREO.

PS: I got a chuckle when I saw your photo of the stack of paper in your office. Looks just like mine here in Alabama.

Enjoa disconnected from e-sign

I see no sign of any connection between Enjoa and e-signing. The two mechanisms I've read about for e-siging are (1) a wet-signature on a POA, with a wet acknowledgement certificate, followed a few days later by the signer doing electronic signatures on a web site with no notary present, or (2) the Notary logging into a web site with the signer present, and the signer's signature consisting of just typing his/her name with the keyboard, or clicking something with the mouse, followed by the notary signing the acknowledgement certificate using either a digital signature, or some kind of password arrangement with the web site.

Enjoa is an electronic journal. As far as I know, it has no capability to tie into the web sites being used for e-signings, and adds no value to the process. It quite possible to keep a paper journal of electronic notarial acts. The only things I can think of that are worth doing electronically (recording message digests of e-signed documents) is either not supported by Enjoa, or not possible at all, depending on the process.

Leon - how do you handle e-signings if you don't have great cell service. Seems to me many times when I am at a borrowers house and need to use my cell it isn't working - they chuckle - oh you can't use that here - we don't have cell service. - what do you do in that case?

Good question.

The post that I linked to offers some alternatives that the company recommends.

eSignings will not be available in all locations, so this may not be the type of thing where borrowers get to choose where they want to close. They may need to do some traveling.

Or they will simply have to close their loan in the traditional way. There's an abundance of paper. Smile

Good luck

P.S. There are areas here in Colorado where there is absolutely no type of wireless service. These people would have to drive to a nearby town (i.e. someone in Florissant would have to drive to Woodland Park).

Re: eSign: "it is here and here too :o)

I think that some people who live in the out of the wireless area will have DSL (phone) or use a or service with their TV cable. I could just plug my laptop into theirs service and we are good to go. Or like Leon said drive to a wireless area or the old fashioned way pen and paper...... Have laptop and air card will travel. :0) Sorry LOL
