Re: I got the call today also. Told them I couldn't lower

my fees. I'd be working twice as hard with twice the expenses of one better paying job. Sorry no can do.

The laws of supply and demand

Once the glut of NSA's diminishes, the fees will increase to more reasonable fees IMO.
There are so many desperate NSA's out there right now, grasping at straws.

Re: The laws of supply and demand

I always say no to a fee that is insulting to me. I hold out and sometimes I win. Lately they will call back and agree to my fee. If not, it is no loss to me. The price to copy docs and drive a car is too much to be sucked into to working at a loss.

When they start reducing the fees charged the borrower, I'll start reducing my fees. Remember who pays you.

*When they start reducing the fees charged the borrower, I'll start reducing my fees.*

I've said this all along. BOs are NOT seeing a decrease in closing costs. BOs are NOT paying any less for appraisals -- and my costs have certainly NOT decreased.

No real business person would ever comment or justify "something is better than nothing."

The Title Companies that are asking us to lower our fees are simply taking some of YOUR money (paid by the borrower in closing costs) and putting it in THEIR pocket. And they won't stop as long as they can get away with it.

"when will this end - when will all notaries stand up and say NO"

The real question is when will people on this board stop with the ridiculous notion of all notaries banding together to accomplish something? Monkeys flying out of my butt is a more realistic prospect.

we can stand together

why would notaries want to get paid and loose money after the expenses -
we should be doing this to make at least some money
we can have control over what we are paid
there is supply and demand
if all notaries say no to the low fees
they will have to increasse there fees

No we can't

There are over 200,000 notaries in California alone. The secretary of state can't even get those people to follow the same rules and regulations, which are mandated by law and clearly spelled out (no backdating, what is acceptable ID, etc) How exactly do you propose getting those 200,000 people, to do the same thing when it comes to fees? I hate to break it to you, but spouting empty platitudes just ain't gonna do it.

You have control over what you charge, which is the only control you're ever going to have. Stop worrying about what other people are doing and focus on what's best for your business. The reality is that it's never going to be the same as it was, fees are not going to start going back up now that these companies know there are so many people out there willing to work ridiculously cheap.

Wishing for it to be otherwise is pointless, just deal with the reality of what is and what will continue to be.

Re: No we can't

It would be a great idea but it is a dream. I try not to even complain about the low fees because there are *&!#$ here that are accepting those $45 fees. It is what it is but I won't be leaving the house for that fee. It's a slap in the face.

I agree with this statement! Its just reality and its sad but true and the truth hurts sometime!
