Well Im about to get into the promotions arena. Im about to start promoting nights for a night club. Alot of my friends do it and they bring in good money. One friend hasnt worked a fulltime job in 5 years. Another just expanded from teh NY and ATL markets to doing things in DC and now just scored a big gig promotiing Alicia Keys in New Orleans for the Essence festival in July. So im going to take a crack at it!

There is nothing wrong with your looks..You still look youthful.

My husband tells me I need to settle down and stop trying to do these get rich quick schemes. Im not trying to get rich, I just want to maintain our lifestyle now since we have 4 kids. And also I realize I hate working a regular 9-5 job for someone else. I sure wont miss the stress!

Depends on how you work the numbers with the club owners. They supply me with a budget to get their flyers and stuff out there. I either stand out at other night clubs and pass them out, drop them of in other businesses, post ads online ie myspace, facebook, craigslist etc etc...spread word of mouth. Then I get paid off the bar. Im starting out with 15% if the bar makes $3500, 20% if bar makes $5000, 25% if bar makes $6500....but that it just stating out os I can get my name out there. Im starting off with one night, thursday night. So once I get that down then I can add other nights. Fridays and Saturdays are the big money makers.

My friend who promoting for the Alicia Keys in New Orleans budget is higher and since he has been doing this for some years and have the degrees to back him up he is making about $15K-20 a month, he promotes in NY, ATL, DC and now New Orleans (NO). He hires others to do the legwork but his name is getting used so he brings in the big money off the bar.

Another promoter in my area who is huge is Dominque Moxey and he promotes about 3-4 clubs on friday, and sunday nights. His clubs bring in huge crowds as he does alot of celebrity promoting.

So do the owners pay for your flyers and paper or is that part of your pay off of the bar?

You go girl! Let us all know how it goes. I know people that are shootin out those little coffee house newsletters and its all about the advertising that makes the money.

LIVEOP and love it

I do liveops.com It's at home customer service taking many many calls for various products and services on TV. We also do charties such as churches, St. Jude and American Idol......
