two on books for today, then poof none
first, driving with the docs to closing one block from borrowers. Get a call from company, she is E-mailing me the docs! What the hell do I have sitting next to me! Obviously not the right ones! Can't accomodate borrowers time, tell them to find a closer notary because borrowers are hopping on a flight to wherever! Second, call at 5pm to find out where my docs are for my 6pm. Get an E-mail please call the borrower and resched for Monday, Okay with you? At least I kept that one! Has anyone been experiencing most borrowers lately have a major thing to do RIGHT after the closing that the lo or title has told them will take 15 minutes? Geeze

Or when I call to confirm (thank God I don't print until I talk to them) they tell me they are on the way to the airport, can I come early, but of course, docs are late. Poof - gone.
Or they tell me they were just asked to sign, but they won't be here. Why am I being called? Doesn't anyone listen to the bo?

I had just one from a very good, new TC client that just happened to find me. Well, it turned into a piggyback and then I got an inspection order while printing docs that was on the way to my closing. Thank goodness, it was a good day.
I also trained for a new part time gig (very part time) that will keep me busy earning money at least two days per month. All in all, I worked 7 hours today and I'm beat. I still made more today than I would have working as an EO for a TC. I just wish I could do this everyday like I used to.
The trip to "IITheTaxLady.com" last week told me more than I wanted to know or admit to. When it's bad, I know it's bad, but sometimes I'd rather just push even more. These 12 hour days of marketing will have to pay off at some time...right? I know they will. I'm a marketing fool from way back and I know that I just need to keep marketing and keep making myself available to stay in business.
What truly saddens me about this industry right now is the signing service owners that have reduced their fees to the absolute ridiculous. I turned down one today because the SSs BASE fee is just $125. What? It is the signing service owners accepting ridiculous fees like this that are hurting our business. I've said it before and I'll say it again, signing services do NOTHING to enrich our industry...at least the signing services that posts their base fee of $125 on their website. This is a ridiculous practice. How can you advertise that you are worth LESS than a competent closer and how then do you justify your fee?
I have no problem turning you down, wish you all the luck in the world filling a weekday 1pm closing and I "pity the fool" that takes this crap!
Rant over. Peace.

AMEN
I'm not very sympathetic to signing services that cave to lower fees from the TC and then try to get me to lower mine accordingly. Just as I "pass" on signings that don't meet my fee, SSs should "pass" on contracts that don't meet theirs.

I had one last week like that. These were "VIPs" and the broker had worked with them before. Both broker and I left messages. The broker finally heard from the BOs, who were at the coast (3 hours away, at the least)! Hello....?! I had received all docs, including HUD, although I hadn't printed (had a gut feeling)...
Anyone think it might be a good idea to confirm with the BO before scheduling a closing and drawing the docs?

Always, no question about that. And I don't print a thing until the BO says they will be there. Pay me full fee no matter what happens and I will go with no confirmation, otherwise, standing rule as stated. I am over print, travel fees.

I got a call last night, scheduled, no confirm, no cancel!
Land America called around 5:30 for a closing today at 6 PM. After I turned down their initial and usual low fee, the scheduler called back with approval of my standard fee, confirmed my email address, and said she was sending the confirmation. Unfortunately I was driving and not able to write down her name and phone number. No confirmation, no cancellation call or email. When I called today to check on it, the person I spoke with checked and said there was no record of a closing to be held at that time in that area. A call from the scheduler saying it had been cancelled or postponed would have been nice. Grrrrrrr.
