what do you think?

I have an acknowledgment that looks a bit different from the others

At the top it Has borrowers names in the top part, looks normal till........

I have questions when it gets to the bottom and reads

Witness my signature and notorial seal at ________________________________,_______
this April 9, 2008.

then I sign my name and put my seal.

My first inclination is to put in the address where we are signing. But there is one long line and then a small short one. Weird. What do you all think?

The location of the signing (county and state) n/m

Simple, Simon - Put the county & state they signed in n/m

Thanks Roger, but

The state and county are already at the top of the acknowledgment just like all acknowledgements. Seems redundant to put it in there again in those crazy blanks.

County & state

Yes, it's redundant. And unnecessary. Has that ever stopped mortgage and title companies from including document upon document that say the same thing? Put in county and state and you'll be fine.

Re: County & state

I always figured that blank to be one that "caught" mistakes from the venue being wrong or left blank.

Yep, I fill it in each and every time.

Totally unnecessary, but I would suggest...

Chicago, (or wherever), Illinois

If this is nothing more than an acknowledgment, then replace it with your own. Ask the SS if it has any real Significance, if not use the Ack you are comfortable with.

I've seen sentences like that, but not as part of the notarial wording....they are just above the signer's signature and ask for city and state. When in doubt, use your state specific acknowledgment certificate.

I put in the city (town, village, whatever) and state

When I worked for my attorneys, I would see that wording, and it was always city and state. Now that I live in a rural area and do closings in 10 counties, I put city or town or village, or county if the location is not in one of those, along with state.
