All in a day's work
Yesterday evening I did a signing for a single woman. A refi. When I got to the house, it looked so derelict that I thought it was the wrong house. But no, the lady came out of the back and introduced herself. She said her Mom and kitties were in the house so it was best if we sat under the carport. She had set up two of those folding canvas armchairs. We finished the signing in the dark. I had to get the Maglite out of my car so we could see!! Afterwards, I thought to myself she probably did me a favor by not letting me in. She had three cats. I am thinking they may not be house trained and if the house's inside is anything like the outside....Even though I am a cat person I am not a flea person... I know we all get these "funny" signings. Just wanted to share.

Ohh, much better outside than in
I did one in a small cramped dark living room at a coffee table. Big wet dog and horrible body odor. I had all I could do to keep my stomach in place.

I did a reverse mortgage signing this week at a picnic table in the front yard. It was a 10 AM signing, so at least it hadn't reached the full heat of the day yet and was too early for the daily afternoon shower.
A couple of years ago, I did a refi signing on the borrower's front porch. It was a first and a second. It was in the evening and as it got dark we had to move around occasionally to trigger the motion sensor light. When I got home I had mosquito bites all over me.

I did an application for a RM on a ladys' screen porch. Some guys pulled up by my Volvo parked on the road in front of the house. They then pulled in front of it and were making phone calls as I was passing paper work and watching intently as they appeared to be up to mischief. After about 10 minutes of not knowing what was coming down, they left.

In some neighborhoods it's a good idea to always be able to
see your car. And there are some neighborhoods that I will not go to after dark.
I always remove my GPS and put it in my purse, no matter what neighborhood I'm in. I was parked at a shopping mall last month and someone smashed in my passenger window in broad daylight. The were trying to steal my GPS but did not get it because it was not in my glove compartment it was in my purse with me inside the mall. They could have taken my printer out of the back of my car but were in too much of a hurry to even look there. They stole my auto manual out of the glove compartment instead!

to bust in for your gps... I don't use the suction cuz of that reason

I use velcro like for e-pass transponder...mounted on dash
Didn't think to remove it though, so will have to now rethink that too.

I know. I leave the mount in the car, but now I have a note
taped to the windshield that says "GPS NOT left in vehicle"

<<<<When I got home I had mosquito bites all over me.>>>>
The US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away. Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. I use them when I am working outside. It really works. The yellow jackets just veer around you. 1. All this time you've just been putting Bounce, in the dryer! It will chase ants away, when you lay a sheet near them, Bounce, also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets Bounce of around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.
3. Bounce, takes the odor out of books and photo albums, that don't get opened too often.
4. ***It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop, when outdoors during mosquito season.***
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television, (or computer) Screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8 . To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce, in a drawer, or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce, sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a Sheet of Bounce, before beginning to sew.
11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce, inside empty luggage before storing.
12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce, under the front seat.
13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan with Bounce,. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.
14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce, at the bottom of the wastebasket.
15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce, will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.
16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe blinds with Bounce, to prevent dust from resettling.
17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce, will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
18. Eliminate dirty laundry odors. Place an individual sheet of Bounce, at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce, in your shoes or sneakers overnight.
20. Golfer's put a sheet Bounce, in their back pocket to keep, bees away.
21. Put a sheet of Bounce, in your sleeping bag, tent before folding & storing them. It keeps them smelling fresh.

I had a signing last summer for a single man, with a mom and cats. We sat at the kitchen table Let me tell you the kitchen floor was covered in cat hair, cat feces, and garbage. That was by far the worst place I have ever seen. It makes you wonder if they are of sound mind when their living conditions are so disgusting.
I would have loved to sign in the carport or anywhere else, where I could at least breathe fresh air. It was like 106 degrees out that day, and even the heat outside would have been more tolerable then the stench inside, lol.
I came home showered, washed my clothing, and cleaned and sanitized my purse and briefcase.
I felt nauseous for a few days afterwards, just thinking about it.

Wouldn't it be nice if the appraiser put a warning of sorts about the condition of the home? We could just meet elsewhere. Some really don't even seem embarassed.

What good would appraiser's comments do, A-1?
Besides the fact that it's not the appraiser's job to "warn" anyone about anything, how would you know? I'm not sure about the packages you're getting, but I think in all the signings I've done I've seen the actual appraisal twice...the appraisal is almost never included in the package...besides the fact that I, personally, wouldn't be taking the time to read an appraisal since that's not our business.
