Any info on mass mail programs?
I am going to do a mass mailing, presumably the first of many, probably in 500-1,000 batches. Does anybody with experience in this have any suggestions? Will the Word Letters & Mailings tool menu item work for mass mailings? If not, do you have any recommendations for an easy-to-use program available off the Net? I'm getting a work from home type to do the preparation for me, so I'm not looking for a heavy-duty commercial type application.
Thanks for any help.

I actually do mass mail mailings for work and we just use the mail merge features in excel and word. I think I have some tutorials I can email you later on. Once you have a list in excel and your letter typed up it only takes about 5 minutes to complete the merge.

Nancy would you shoot me your tutorials?
I am preparing to do the same in the next month or so...and was wondering how to accomplish this easily, too.

Re: Any info on mass mail programs? Group Mail 5
I use it a lot in marketing and like the program very much, it has a very easy user interface and is efficient especilly if you are doing mass mailings and it can save you money on postage.

In my opinion, GroupMail from Infacta is probably the best around. I've had the the pro version since 2003. It is very fast with upwards of 200 simultaneous connections, depending on your ISP, so you could conceivably do your 1500 pc mailing in about 10 minutes. Not cheap, but they do have a free version that limits you to 100. So 1,500 mailings would be 15 separate mailings of 100 ea. http://www.group-mail.com/asp/common/default.asp

Tutorials are online.
Yes, MS Word will do a mass mail program of 500-1000. From multitudinous (izzat a word?) experience with such things, however, I would break it down into batches of 100-250, but that's just me and my old hang overs from the early 80's when I used Unix MS Word with dBaseIII.
Be brave and tackle it.
