Bankruptcy Filings
I just had a conversation with someone I know that is helping someone else with a bankruptcy filing. She was telling me she bought a kit and was able to help the person with filing out the stack of forms to file with the court. She was also able to help them complete their credit counseling through an online course. My question is this: Are others on this board doing this as a business as I see this as maybe a new side business form myself?

Be awfully careful! Do not practice law without a license. Unauthorized Practice of Law (UPL) is a serious offense. Attorneys do not take kindly to anyone doing things for which they receive $$.
Be sure that you've not notarizing anything during the course of helping, if you choose to take this on as a business, or even as a volunteer. If you _don't_ help fill out the forms or provide any advice, then notarize away.

In addition to Ernest's cautions...
You also need to be aware that there are very strict filing requirements in bankruptcy (i.e. back when I did them they required paper filing with the entire petition saved to a disk which also had to be filed with the court) and if not filed properly it could be very costly to the petitioner. I, personally, would not want that on me...JMHO

There are a few companies that sell training to be a Virtual Bankruptcy Assistant. You would work under the authority of an attorney. You do all the fact finding and clerical work and the attorney actually files the bankruptcy petition. Some claim you can make lots of money. :-)

Derrick, you have more chances of making good money with...
Loan Modification....watch the video on the FAQ's on our website at www.ModifyUSLoans.com to know that our legal department (7 lawyers - 4 in-house) are successful in their negotiations with mahor lenders nationwide. Shoot me and e-mail at glenadeeatgmaildotcom for a copy of compensation schedule.
Bankruptcy needs to be supervised by an attorney...you cannot do it on your own. Even if you could, the risk is too great.
