Blanket Acknowledgment and Jurat assistance
I did a signing yesterday and faxed required docs in for review. SS called this morning and asked to provide a blanket Acknowledgment because my stamp covered the verbiage on several docs. They also asked for a blanket Jurat for a Mortgage Survey Affidavit which my stamp also covered.
In four years of signing I've never had this request. I've done a search here and found nothing. Any ideas would be appreciated.

ideas about what?
did you screw up on all these docs? How would one blanket ack cover 'several' docs? what does your state tell you about 'reacks' and corrections to your work?

Re: ideas about what?
Although I appreciate you response Sue, I found the answer to my question. I didn't realize I "screwed up" until you pointed it out to me.

Nick, I am a bit confused. Did your stamp cover the verbiage on the docs or on your notary block? I have seen many instances of an impressed stamp over wording and it doesn't seem to matter, is that what you use? What did you find out? It seems as if they were asking for an attached jurat and acks for each document, but your use of the word blanket implies that you were doing one ack for all the docs and that doesn't sound right.

My term blanket was inaccurate. It was over notary block. It was an all purpose Acknowledgment for a few docs and a Jurat for one document. The SS sent me blank ones to use.
Thanks for your response. Much appreciated.

I know that sometimes the space provided for the notary stamp is extremely small, and then they are so brilliant as to put "SEAL" smack dab in the middle of the only blank space available! Sometimes my stamp covers things a little bit - like page number or something - but I try hard not to allow it to cover any wording printed on the page. But sometimes it's unavoidable.

Simple rule:
When there isn't enough room for your seal, cross out the printed Ack or Jurat wording, write "See attached Acknowledgement" (or Jurat) on the document in the Notarial Block and ATTACH a Ack or Jurat. Your notarization is then clear and complete. And if you are using an ACK or Jurat with the "optional info box" fill in the name of the document, the number of pages and the document date. Yes, it's more work, but you are a professional and want to do your work like a professional.
BTW, NEVER send anyone a "blanket" Ack or Jurat that can be attached to a document of their choice.

Yes, that's good advice. My state just started re-allowing loose acks. Before that, the notarization had to be on the same page as the signatures being notarized. But a loose ack does solve the problem!
