Charismatic Escrow Signer, Inc

Has anyone heard of Charismatic Escrow Signer, Inc? I did a signing for them in May, I was lectured by the owner that communication is the key to this business, because I did not call her to tell her I left a message with the client and was waiting for the client to call me back. Then was told after the signing that they were moving their operations from Nevada to Utah, so they would TRY to pay me on time (a huge fee of $50.00). Then at 75 days late they said oops we had an error in our accounting department and several notaries did not get paid and oh yeah some got paid that didn't do any work. But I was assured that my check would be mailed out on that Sunday. Now at 90 days late the woman continues to email me and harrass me because I promised to report her to the IRS if I did not receive payment by 8/21/08.
BE SMART DO NOT WORK FOR THESE FOLKS THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE HASSEL AND THEY DON"T PAY WELL OR ON TIME!!! I am sick of putting myself on sale. I am not even going to accept anymore minimum fee signings.

What do you expect the IRS to do about this? I know they have a collections department, but I was under the impression that was for folks that owed them money.

My understanding is if you turn this over to the IRS as income that they may not be reporting you can not collect on it after the fact. The only thing the IRS may do is check to make sure that this income was reported and if not go after the SS/Title not help you collect.

Just my understanding

I'm sure the IRS is dying to investigate notaries claims that they aren't getting paid, and could you please look into whether the SS is claiming that $50 they did not pay me as income?

Perhaps the BetterBusinessBureau where this agency is located would be a good place to start.
If they ARE listed with their local BBB, it can endanger their local standings. Just a thought.
Good Luck.

The BBB is a good thought but they are not a collection agency either, all they do is send out a letter to the business, stating the claim against them. 99% of the time the business ignores them and goes about their cheating way.

I am the owner of Charismatic Escrow Signer, Inc. and a notary as well.

Sandra did perform a signing for us in May 2008. EVERYTIME we schedule an appointment with a notary we remind them that communication is very crucial and that if any problems arise. Our company does the initial confirmation to the borrower 98% of the time. Reason we make the call is that we have experienced numerous calls from both the escrow company or the signing party stating that noone has contacted them and they are worried.

In regards to this particular situation, we received panic calls from both escrow officer and the borrower. We contacted the notary and it was at this time that we were informed that she was unable to reach the borrower and left a message. We again reiterated that communication is important. While Sandra might personally feel we lectured her about communication.

Due to the decline in real estate notary signing transactions, we did move our offices and let go of our payroll clerk. We did expect delays in transitioning our office, so we wanted to make sure to advise notaries that there could be a delay. I received calls from 3 notaries that said they had outstanding invoices. I did some research and found that not only had these three not been paid but 1 other notary had been paid whom had done a signing for us in the past but not for anything recent.

I responded to Sandra immediately to let her know the above information and that we would be issuing a check. She lost control of her emotions again and said she did not care what problems had occurred and continued to rant and rave. I advised her that her professional conduct was quite unacceptable and I was sorry to hear that she never has had a problem arise in the world. She demanded that we pay by a certain date or she would contact the IRS and BBB to file a complaint. I advised her that she should contact whomever she felt she needed to.

A check was issued to Sandra along with an additional $10.00 due to our error in getting payment to her.

Companies do make errors, and when our company makes error we make sure to recognize and learn from it as well as take care of our client or notary. Over the last 5 years we have had to eat notary signing fees because of the notary. Sometimes, escrow officers will contact us after the signing to discuss the notary we utilized. Many of the complaints are that the notary was unprofessional, unknowledgeable, unfriendly and rushed. Many times, the escrow officer will advise us that they due not feel they should have to pay for an unprofessional notary service. In order to maintain the business relationship we have worked hard to cultivate, we will agree to not charge them for the signing, if this is the case we will contact the notary and open communication with them so we can hear their side of the story. Depending on the circumstances and final resolution, we normally still pay the notary for their services.

So to summarize, our company did take too long to pay Sandra and we acknowledged that with her and made sure to compensate her for the delay. Sandra is quick to embelish and make negative post at forums and sites, but she fails to update her audience after an action.

Signing services also have rating systems for the notaries they utilize so that we can see comments made from other signing services. Sandra has been rated as a 3, partially due to her unprofessional conduct while discussing this matter, she was unable to listen constructively as well as failed to follow signing service procedures in submitting mandatory signing fee form which is required to be signed and sent back with notaries invoice and W9.

I look forward to working with professional, knowledgeable notaries and we have finally settled in Utah, so there have been no other late payments to our notaries.
