Cornerstone Signing - Late Payment
Just want to give a heads-up concerning Cornerstone Signing out of Searcy, Arkansas.
I accepted a very rushed assignment from them on July 11 (less than 2 hours notice). It was for a purchase. Although it was rushed, I did check them out here on Notary Rotary and based on positive reviews from 2006 (the most recent posts), I went ahead with the assignment.
About a week later, Tracy calls asking my address so she can mail my check. It was on the Invoice I faxed but she said she couldn't find it right then and just needed my address. So naturally I thought I'd be receiving payment shortly. Three weeks go by with no payment. I called back to find out what the hold up was and she asked me to email her as she was out of the office and she would check into it. Did that - didn't hear from her until 4 days later (had to call *again*) when she said it had not been paid yet by the Title Co. and she would keep me updated. It is now 2 weeks later and although I've emailed about this and re-faxed my Invoice, I've not been 'updated' at all nor even had the courtesy of a return phone call or email.
Her not getting paid by the Title Co. has nothing to do with her paying me for services rendered. Why do they always think that is a legitimate excuse for not having paid us??
Notary beware....

Have only done 5 for this co...spread over 3 years or so. You are correct, they are generally very slow pay, but I've always been paid---when they get paid by TC. Not the best scenario, for sure, so I keep 'em close to home. That said, I would work for them again, but would not allow them to pile up a bunch in one month. No matter how you slice this, they are working on the come. Which, btw, seems to be SOP for many SS. Wrong, but fact.

Could you please do us all a favor and link this post?
Please add this company to Signing Central. You need to be logged in to do this, but it will help us all, if everyone would take a couple of minutes now to add a listing. If you cannot add it or need help, just ask. Signing Central is a great tool, and only gets better if we keep it updated.

One more thing about Signing Central
Some one recently posted about the stars given a particular company in Signing Central, and why they wouldn't change, given the fact that a company was no longer in business. It's simply because the raters did not go back to adjust their ratings, and no one else has added their recent experience. I would not expect a rater to change their original rating, unless they have had a recently bad experience. All the posters that were left holding the bag with the recent company closings etc. should add their ratings in Signing Central. The ratings will only change if: 1. More people add ratings. 2. If existing ratings are changed by the original posters, because their experiences with that company have changed. Keep in mind, if you add a rating, and keep yourself anonymous, many of us will assume you have an ax to grind or are a company schill. Those types of anonymous ratings do not help anyone.
