E & O / General Liability - COSTCO

I'm a Costco member and was on their website. I saw something about business insurance being offered. I called and explained loan signing/notary/field inspection work to them and requested a quote. I found the guy on the phone to be extremely helpful and polite; however, he did not release a quote on my business. The reason he gave me was a little vague. I got the impression that their underwriters aren't all that familiar with this sort of risk. Another reason could be that I'm a one-woman shop. I was told that businesses must have at least three years under their belt to be considered. I also asked about them writing insurance for must my notary work. It was a no go.

I am checking out some other leads. Just wanted to share my experience with Costco.

PS: Other states may be different. This is just recently offered to Alabama businesses.

Thanks for the info. I have found that if I venture outside the "notary world", no one has any idea of business insurance for us. IMHO it is because many states require "bonds" & not just E&O. You should be able to obtain "business liability insurance" from just about anyone, but not everyone underwrites E&O. Did you check here at NotRot?
