Field Inspection work
Does Field Inspection work require a specific type of E & O insurance different from our Notary Insurance. Can anyone answer?

At the fees they pay, not getting any E&O for them!

Also...can someone give me an idea of standard fees? I am aware that they are lower than signing fees :-(

I got a call to do one for $30.00. I thought I'd like to get into that as an extra source of income, but that amount would not sustain very well.

I've seen as little as $5 or $6, not personally, just 'other board' jabber, etc. But $25 to $50 seems to be absolutely ALL they offer... and there doesn't seem to be any negotiating. The 'grand idea' is that you have 2 or 3 days to complete (but not always) and you can combine them. That just doesn't work for me, but, maybe somewhere it does.

That beats the $7.00 I was offered. The guy says to me, "We try to give you a bunch of them close together. You can possibly make $35.00 an hour!" Yeah right..... Thanks but no thanks.

Field inspection companies vary greatly on what they will pay field workers. I work for companies that pay a little as $10 and as well as $50. I only work with companies that don't require you to carry a general liability policy because it's too expensive to carry with the amount of field inspections I do. Keep in mind, your Notary E&O Insurance policy ONLY covers notarial duties....it does not cover signing agent or field inspection duties. I know a notary on the west coast of Florida that is doing 10-20 delinquency interviews a day and making on average $200 per day. Where else can you be your own boss, work five hours a day and make $200? I'd love to nail a client like that.
I do expect to be busy doing insurance inspections in the wake of Fay. I just wish she would get the heck out of Florida. We've had a foot of rain in two days and they are expecting another 4 inches tonight. I was busy with inspections after the 2004 and 2005 storms and I hope to be again after this storm.

If we do two closings at day we would earn $300 for 5-6 hours work!
