Final thoughts for the night
The Last Stand of the 300, History Channel this month
The Spartans holding the pass on the road to Athens against the Persians, trained to do their job which is fighting to the death to protect Athens. Extremely well equipped, far beyond their enemy, tactical moves down pat. They were defeated by a spy – a discontented person who, for whatever reason, sold out his own country and let it be overrun and probably was killed in the process.
Does anyone see a correlation? History does repeat, we are supposed to learn from it thus creating a new history, but just can’t believe it will happen to us? Childish.
(and no, this does not belong on Politics or Leisure)

An allegory? Don't you just love those? What does it mean? That perhaps we (was it not Pogo that said) are our own worst enemy? I can't guess! Give me enough time and I'll figure it out....Maybe?

A PS: Or could it mean there is a traitor in our midst? That someone that so elequelenty proclaims the virtues, and goodness of the SS that we all succumb to working at less than we need, and therefore wither and die? Who could do this? And why would the evil SS employ him to do so? For without the humble but necessary services of the…..notary…….would not the vaunted SS’s themselves perish? A conundrum too intricate to solve, to important to dismiss, yet to valuable to discard. Tomorrow is another day…. Or did she say that? Another PS: For some reason my keyboard does not work proprely, I have a Dell running Vista, and EVERY time I have three mojotos, my keyboard is.....less than perfect!

Pogo quote: a slight correction.
Walt Kelly first used the quote "We Have Met The Enemy and He Is Us" on a poster for Earth Day in 1970. In 1971, he did a two panel version with Pogo and Porky in a trash filled swamp. Pogo, responding to Porky said "YEP, SON, WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US." In 1972, it was the title of a book, Pogo: We Have Met the Enemy and He Is Us.
