Getting Started - New Notary
Hi, I am a new notary and have been doing lots of research on how this business works and etc. There is not a wealth of information on what fees to charge. You don't want to lowball yourself yet you don't want to come in too high and not get any calls. Does anyone have any suggestions or resouces that I could tap into? So far I haven't had one call so any guidance at all would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Re: Getting Started - New Notary - Hi Happy.
I recommend you follow advisories given by Loretta/MD and WDMD to start with.
Are you a licensed title producer?

I think in order to handle any kind of real estate signings in MD you need to be an LTP. Just what I've gathered from reading here.

Yes, you do NEED a TPL....and
based on a post from the other day, apparently the State of Maryland is finally clamping down on those who operate without one.

Re: Yes, you do NEED a TPL....and
I always appreciate anyone who is wanting to know the law when it comes to performing loan closings in this state of Maryland. . You are on the right track by asking ,here for the answers. By getting your TPL.... which requires training and testing... you will know everything you need. I will be looking forwarded to your response. So many do not know that a TPL is a MD law and they go out to do closings with limited knowledge as to the law. Don't worry you will be contacted to operate at a lower rate due to you not having a TPL.

Thanks. I think alot of the confusion in regards to the TPL stems from the fact that is it not stated in the handbook as required.

It doesn't? Try reading page 6 Part III paragraph 18 where it talks about whether a notary can perform official duties at real estate closings or settlements.
