LandAmerica Onestop - shame on you....but lesson learned!

....thanks for letting me down, AGAIN.

And after receiving such raves on this site (and I know for some they are like your 'best customer') but why are you discriminating? Some notaries you pay well within 2 weeks or less, and others like me have to wait MORE THAN 2 weeks? It's now 6 weeks and counting...

The excuse for the 'delay' in payment was, "we don't have any information on file for you, so please fill out the attached" - the whole notary package plus the W9, WTF! this crap was filled out back in Nov 2007! AND I am already on file, did a previous gig, hello!

I even refused the signing at first, and when asked why, I clearly voiced my concern about getting paid for this job, since my last assignment took 4 months out to get paid. But the rep reasured me that I shouldn't have to wait or will have "any trouble getting paid after the loan closes"....bla bla bla...

So I put her on hold, and figured if there were any new negative ratings on NotRot (my notary bible) about them, I wouldn't take the job. I didn't see anything and because she sounded like she knew what she was talking about, I accepted the job. DAMN...here we are again, 6 weeks later, still waiting to get paid!

Why LandAmerica Onestop for all this BS....Frown Never again - hard lesson finally learned!

1st time 4 months out and you take another?

One of our problems, collectively, we don't seem to follow our best instincts.

I would have asked them to pay via pay pal in advance for the second one. Got a lot of nerve calling you, thinking you'd be silly enough to do a repeat performance for them.

"Got a lot of nerve calling you, thinking you'd be silly enough to do a repeat performance for them"

Except she did do a repeat performance for them. As do a lot of people who have been burned by companies in the past. I don't get it, but see it all the time on here.

Me, I'm going to trust my own experiences more than I would trust the word of a person on the other end of the phone, they'll tell us whatever they think we want to hear to get us to do the signing. And it obviously works a lot of the time.

That is why it is best to have the client indicate in the confirmation not only the amount of your fee but also the payment date to which you both agreed. It reflects a clear understanding on both sides of the transaction.

When they advertise in the local papers for employees; abstractors, loan coordinators, loan processors, etc., they offer a whopping $10 an hour. Gee... can they spare it...
I learned my lesson with them a couple years ago.
I would really keep after them. That may be the only way you get your money.

Re: LandAmerica Onestop

I am surprised that you have had any problems with them. I do a few each month. Just did one 7/31 and check arrived today. They have paid me promptly and met my fee each time.
Do you invoice with the return package? If it isn't a Countrywide I send the fax to them and a copy of my invoice included also. I have a notary friend in VA that says she will do all the closings they want to send her way and I feel the same.
