List of companies that are "out of business"

Below is a list of companies taken from NotRot that I believe are now "out of business". If you know of any others that fall into this catagory please add to this list. Also if you believe any of these are still "in business" please make the correction. (I scrutinized this as best I could but its always possible I could have made some mistakes).

I don't know where you got this, or if you compiled it yourself, but assuming it is accurate it is a very generous commitment to the board.

Hi Brenda,
Yes I complied it from the Signing Central list. I also did one for "Deadbeat" companies but don't think it appropriate to publish here because I might offend someone.

Zee, maybe one way to make use of this is to

copy and paste it into a new post and add the out of business notary signing service to it.

Then you can add her.

No one notary can make that list all inclusive but Paul's list is a great start.

Only the strong survive. The bottom feeders offering the $50.00 to $90.00 fees are simply capitalizing on the current business slump. Economists are projecting the market to bottom out in the first quarter of 2009. When the oversupply of cheap housing on the market reverses...let them try to find a signing agent for the low ball fees. the signing agents have long memories of who you are.

No it hasn't been verified but I tried to log on to their website and it was gone. I also tried to contact them with email but that bounced so I "assumed" they were out of business. If you find out that they are still in business please post so I can update the list. Thanks

I tried this onceand got bashed for it.

I did this once before with a web site ( will remain unamed ) and got the crap bashed out of me. Thanks for all the support folks.

I do thank Paul for the list though.

I guess being a SS I should have known better than to try to help the notaries stay away from deadbeat or out of busniess companies.

Tony - If you're going to tell a story...tell it correctly!

If you're going to tell a story Tony, tell it fing right! You said (back in Jan/Feb) something along the lines of "Hey, check out this website I stumbled upon." Only when the respected notaries of this forum pointed out that you owned his website did you get "blasted" and rightfully so...because I'm sure as most of us know, very few, if any, signing services do anything without an ulterior motive. And stop posting your website on every post...we know WTF you are - DH!

Then you posted this promise, which is also another lie on your part. Not a surprise – you are a SS.

Have a good time folks.

I tried to do a good thing for the notaries and this is the thanks I get. Well thanks but no thanks. I will NOT answer PMs either.

NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN."

Don't go crying because you did something deceitful and were called on it...JA!!!

Please submit an inquiry through our website and we can look into the payment request. It will be difficult to obtain records, as it was from 2004.

Hi Cali, If you don't use Signing Central to contact companies to sign up with then it is of no benefit to you. However, if you do then you could be wasting your time trying to contact companies that have gone out of business.

Cali, I keep a file card on every company I sign up with

and/or have done business with. I also have a file set up for each. This info is helpful to weed out all the file cards and folders that are no longer needed and hopefully make room for new companies. I dont know if others use the system that I do, but whatever system you do use, this is great info. Thx Paul_2!

Here's a thought...

Anyone who has confirmed that a company is definitely out of business - add a note to the remarks section form them in SC in caps....OUT OF BUSINESS....then anyone who goes there looking for a company SHOULD see that...

In the meantime, Harry and/or whoever, is it possible for you (management) to flag the company in SC once it's confirmed that the company is out of business and the effective date...
a red flag or something. And/or, how about a separate tab for confirmed demised companies available to all to add companies that close down (make it subject to your review, as in adding a company, if you wish).

Like I said, just a thought.

Awesome list, Paul; great idea, Linda

Another good use for the list is to weed out the companies that we are still attempting to chase for our fees. I used to have one or at most two that stiffed me each year, but last year I ended up with 6, 3 of which went bankrupt. Luckily each only owed me for 1 closing, but that is still a lot of money to lose.

Re: Here's a thought...

If they are OOB, I'd like to see them stay in SC so that it can be confirmed...I don't see any reason to remove them.

(To whoever suggested that...I'm unable to research it at the moment.)

Re: Isn't FNP now AmPro?

Yes it is. However, for this exercise I tried to list only those companies that are "out of business". If you check SC you will see that both FNP and AMPRO are listed. FNP is "out of business" regardless of the fact that they closed one door and opened another. If you tried to sign up with FNP you wouldn't be able to. Your point however is a good one. There are a lot of companies that closed their doors owing money to notaries and then opened up under another name. I'm not saying FNP is one of them. If anyone has a list of these I'd be very interested.
