Listings/Advertising

There is so much discussion on the board about what Harry is/is not doing. Am I the only one who sees my listing on NotRot as advertising? I was a free member for a long time, and didn't get calls from way down on the list. When I paid for a premier listing, it paid off almost immediately. In my business I pay for listings on 3 major sites, of which this is one. IMO what I'm paying for is predominance in the industry. Harry & the other site owner pay a lot of money for placement on many search sites. That is where my business comes from, listings on these sites. I certainly pay a whole lot more on that other site. I do participate in the forum, but that's not the main objective. I respect Harry for trying to improve the way listings are handled. The new rating system may need some time to get the bugs worked out.
Harry at least asks for input & feedback. I also respect the other notaries & the issues they may have with zip code & distance issues. What I don't understand is that you don't call the office in an attempt to get those issues cleared up. In my experience, NotRot is one of the top listing sites, and has provided me with results for my money. What else is that anyone else expects here?

I agree with MW/VA because I too have been getting the majority of my calls from NotRot and another site that I paid to get a premier listing. The other site (I think everyone knows about that site)that I have sign up with is really a joke to me. When the Title Companies or SS call me for an assignment, I asked what site did they get my name from and from their response it's NotRot. So, to Harry, THANK YOU!!! Keep on advertising me!!

Glad it's worked well for you...

I haven't had a call as a result of NotRot in close to a year - I'm hoping that changes...

Re: Glad it's worked well for you...

This isn’t just about getting calls, but the quality or value of the calls that come in. I have a listing on several sites that charge for the listing. I do not get as many calls from this site as I do from two others, but the amount of time negotiating a reasonable fee from calls generated from this site is significantly less. It has not been a low-ballers cafeteria. Sure, a number of the $50 to $75 offers for overnight docs come from all sites, but this one has less of those and proportionateley more of the higher ones - well at least for me. So, I rank this site as number one based upon my criteria.

What I found interesting while looking around sections of the country that people here post from is that many persons that have non-paying memberships have maximum bars. To me that says these folks must be contributing in other ways that premier members did not. Somehow, that seems fair to me. Perhaps this new system will help schedulers know who to call so they are not wasting there time calling so many that have left the business.

I have been a paid member of NotRot since about day 1,..

and have spoken to Harry personally on several occaisions.
Most of the calls that I get from new sources are generated by my
listing, and I will certainly continue to renew.
I know that there was a lot of discussion on this issue yesterday,
but I have not had the chance to read much, because I was, thankfully,
busy doing signings.
The problem as I see it , is that the number of "bars" seems to be a rating systemi
similiar to the "star " rating that we give to SS/TC.
The assumption is naturally, that the more bars, the better the NSA based on
feed back from TC/SSs. This, apparently, not the case, but I would think
that is the misconception that would be gathed by someone looking for a
NSA for an assignmnet.
I gather that Harry is reworking and clarifying the system. Looking forward to
how it will be improved.
In the interim, I am working on updating my profile.

Agreed! Once I went premium, my work from this site

has increased enough to justify the expense.

I have also had calls for work that I had to turn down due to scheduling issues. They then ask if I could refer them to another notary. When I mentioned that they should try a website called Notary Rotary, I heard a dissatisfied moan of 'yeah, I heard of them'. They were obviously not enthused by the site. Later (this was quite a while ago) I checked out who this company is and it was Closing Quest! No wonder they were not happy! I was probably one of the few people in my area they hadn't messed with yet.

So yes, I see this site as advertising for us due to my increase in business. I also see that the few SSs that call and express dismay at this site are the ones that lowball or just don't pay.
