Mercury selling CO operation to First Am
That's the head of the fish so it will be interesting to see if all now falls under First Am.

All Reverse Transactions
I have spoken to my contact at ART and she tells me that they are being taken over by Placer Title Diane.

I hope so. I can't afford to do reverses,,or any signing for that matter,, for $50.

Re: All Reverse Transactions
Placer will use NCS (National Closing Solutions) to schedule their $50 closings.

Re: All Reverse Transactions
Yes, and then NCS (National Closing Solutions) AKA Title Stream National Closing Solutions will not pay you, as per their numerous reviews here on NotRot and other notary boards.

They are not the same company as Title Stream - not affliated, please check Signing Central. Placer Title is a great company. Pays very quickly and Betsy is wonderful to work with in their office at Placer/NCS.

Re: All Reverse Transactions
Thanks for setting me straight on that. I'm curious, though. There are two National Closing Solutions listed - one in Rocklin CA and one is Sugarland TX.

Placer Title/NCS
Placer Title/NCS has offices in both Rocklin, CA and Sugarland TX. I found that out today when I called them to verify they took over ART and to see if they are the same company as TS NSC in Coppell, TX - they are not!

NCS
I am looking at a confirmation email that is from "Titlestream, Matt Blackmon"...the confirmation is from "TS National Closing Solutions" in Coppell, TX. Is TS NCS different than NCS? Doesn't Placer Title use NCS to schedule their closings?
By the way, I was paid 7/21 for a closing on 7/16.

TS Connections aka Title Stream - Payment Received!
After much reservation and demanding immediate payment due if "upon funding" terms wasn't do'able... I accepted a closing from TitleStream on 7/25/08. He said that because of all of the skuffle on the boards, they were paying faster for closings.
Received a check today 8/3/08!

ART is a division of LFC which is a Mercury Company
Mercury, which is based out of CO, closed all operations outside of CO last week. The purchase by First Am would finish the job.

Well, if First American buys all the Mercury companies you guys better sign up with FASS. You don't think they will use anyone but their in house SS? Say hello to $50 fees!

Some First American offices call notaries direct instead of using FASS.

"Some First American offices call notaries direct instead of using FASS."
I was called one time by First American Title directly for a closing. They met my fee, but it took them 4 months to pay it. They kept claiming that it was handled by FASS. Of course FASS claimed they had no record of the signing at all. Finally First American Title paid after back and forth for four months.

I'm sure alot of people have had good results working with First Am Tiltle and FASS. I was just recounting my one and only experience with them.

Re: I have never had a problem getting paid directly by First Am
I too have worked directly for a couple of First American offices. These office people, that fear for their lender business, or have had negative lender feedback adout FASS, can sometimes schedule direct. In these lean days with FASS as a 'profit center' I think you'll see less of that. IMO any Company First American buys, will mean less work for greater than $50 notaries. This fee depends on your area, negotiating skills, and local laws. I still see it as a negative.
