Pacific Dox Alissa Thomas How to Get Paid
It took me 60 days to get paid by Alissa Thomas of Pacific Dox. I was ignored by Pacific Dox for the first 30 days of my collection effort. No returned phone calls from any of their 3 phone numbers, no return emails from Alissa or Stephanie. Then I contacted the escrow officer who seemed to have a very friendly relationship with Alissa and she stalled me for another 30 days. Then I did two things at once. The title company was owned by LandAmerica so I used their web site to send a complaint. I received an email back saying they would look into it. On the same day I had also left a voice mail for the escrow officers direct supervisor. I don't know which worked. If that had not worked I would have worked my way up the ladder at the title company and would have contacted the lender as well. Fortunatley not necessary. Why all the trouble? I feel it's a moral obligation to not let deadbeats win.

Glad to hear you got paid! If possible, can you tell me if the signing was completed? (by that I mean recorded and not cancelled after the fact). My reason for asking this is; I'm trying to understand why companies such as Pacific Dox have mixed ratings in Signing Central. When you look at the ratings they range anywhere from deadbeat to slow to pay to a great company! I believe that some of the low ratings might be because the borrowers were either a no show or cancelled on the spot or cancelled after the fact. By doing any of these, a company like Pacific Dox may not get paid by the TC or Lender and in turn not pay you. NO EXCUSE for Pacific Dox and the like for not paying their notaries! You're hired by them not the TC or Lender. The fact that you got paid in this instance was probably because of you persistence and may not have anything with the loan getting funded. Appreciate your response...

Alissa Thomas owes me $100 from May 3. I have contacted the title company and received neither a response nor my money. I have filed complaints online at several government sites, and this Labor Day Weekend, I am going to file complaints with the California AG and SOS. Next move will be to file a claim in CA Small Claims Court. Thomas seems to pay notaries who are close enough to pay her a visit, but not the notaries who are out of state. The BBB in San Diego (totally worthless) has her listed as "Mortgage Broker." That's rather interesting. However, NO WHERE in the business portal section for the state of CA is Pacific Dox listed as ANY registered company doing business in CA for any reason. I have checked through the whole site, and can find nothing. Phone calls to Alissa Thomas go unanswered and e-mails are not responded to. My thoughts on the "favorable" comments in signing central are that Thomas has friends out there who she is encouraging to give positive feedback for her company when too many negative responses are listed about Pacific Dox. If you check the other notary forums, you will see the same pattern. If you search for her street address on Google, you can see the apartment building where she lives.

I just did 3 for her recently but the title company is one that I have done work for directly in the past. I better not have any problems getting paid because I will be on the phone to the TC in a heartbeat. They need to know. I was a little upset to see that I was getting closings through a SS from this title co. but if I get paid that's ok. We'll see.

The math is confusing me here...
"It took me 60 days to get paid by Alissa Thomas of Pacific Dox. I was ignored by Pacific Dox for the first 30 days of my collection effort."
OK, that's 30...
" Then I contacted the escrow officer who seemed to have a very friendly relationship with Alissa and she stalled me for another 30 days."
And that's 60.
So what are you saying - you expected to be paid immediately, and it took more than 60 days to get that payment? Or did it take an additional 60 days beyond the time they told you they would pay?

Well it looks like we need to but Pacific Dox out of business. I completed a closing for them on 7/14/08 and still have not been paid. I have e-mailed, sent faxes and phoned and Alissa still does not respond. Well today I sent a Complaint to the Attorney General of California by certified mail, return receipt requested. I also contacted the BBB as well as the Dept of Corporations. Well we will see what transpires from this. I am tempted to not doing business with anyone in CA.

Well I finally received payment today so there must be hope for the rest of the notaries owed money. I think that most of us are frustrated at not being able to make any sort of contact with this group after the signings, including efforts to find out about payment of our fees.
