Pray for my nephew
My 26 year old nephew was in a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning. He was life flighted to the Trama Center at Shands, Jacksonville. He has two skull fractures, one where he has a golfball size hole. They had to remove bone fragments from the hole. They only reaction we ar getting is, he will squeeze your hand when uou ask him to. The Dr. believes he can hear us and I believe it too. Right now it is just a wait and see, we will get another update on Wednesday.

I knew there was some reason I logged on
A healing prayer for your nephew and a serenity prayer for you.
Somethings you just can't change... wait and see is an awful tough answer.
FWIW... I had a college roommate that was thrown out of a jeep in high school and had had a thimble size chunk removed from his brain. A couple years later he was perfectly normal, though still an idiot. We used to joke about what specific piece of knowledge/judgment/wisdom was removed in that thimble. From time to time we'd come up with other answers but the general consensus was that something was missing having to do with dealing with women.
I know it's not funny today, the point is that it can work out.
Hang in there kid.

Margaret, Mothers Day 2007 one of my granddaughters 19 was thrown from her SUV on 295 & US1. She was also lifeflighted to Shands. Her skull was split open, lost most of one ear, lacerations and abrasions (deep) everywhere. Her jaw was broken in two places and wired shut. By the grace of God and the skill of the staff there at Shands she has recovered and is working. Her short term memory is a little impaired. She has scars on her face, but we don't even see them, we are so thankful that she is alive. We will all be praying for your nephew and the entire family.

Margaret, you and your family have begun a long journey, every dark cloud has a silver lining. Four years ago and 3 months ago this week, my nephew was flown from Silver City, NM to El Paso, TX where he underwent a total of 7 surgeries to repair the damage to his brain from a brutal attack by some thugs, he was not expected to live. I can tell you I completely understand your stress and heartache. The fact that he's squeezing your hand is a great sign and more to come. Recently a friend of our family, an excellent bike rider, hit a pothole and lost control of his HD, went through the guard rail and over the side 30ft. His helmet was shattered, he was killed on impact on some huge boulders along the creek in Ojai, CA. A terrible loss, we all loved Jack so much, but it was his time, I guess. It is God's grace, why do some make it and others don't. I'll be thinking of you. Head injuries are more and more common, now that gas is so expensive, a lot of people are going to other less protected modes of transportation. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Some of the most wonderful people in the world will come into your life in the coming months and years during this challenging time.
