Premier Membership
I just searched my zip code and my listing is no longer showing up even though I am paid up until May 2009. Please fix this immediately.

You're better off contacting them directly than posting on the forum and hoping they see it. Scroll to the bottom of the page and us the "contact us" link.

You might try updating your profile....
You really don't have to change it at all, just log in & UPDATE. Also be aware that this is a holiday weekend and things might not change until Tuesday.

After you log in and look at your profile, make sure that the little box that says "Hide My Profile From Searches" is not checked.

About Premier Membership Cost
Read the info about premier membership and it said the cost is from $59 - $179. For me specifically, it would cost $139 to upgrade. When I first registered for a basic account, the cost was $119 to upgrade. Does anyone know (1st) why there is even a range and (2nd) and what factors determine why I would be charged $139 as opposed to $59 (or even $79, or whatever)?
Where is there not ONE price for premier membership?

Re: About Premier Membership Cost
The way I see it is if everyone paid $49 then so many in highly populated areas would purchase that they would be just as well off with a free membership. Paying the higher price culls out many and makes the paid membership actually worth something. (?) That's the best way I can figure it.

Re: About Premier Membership Cost
I asked the same question when I first signed on as a premier member, and was told that it's on a sliding scale which depends on how many notaries there are in your area. I think I paid $159; the renewal fee was lower.

Re: About Premier Membership Cost
When I entered, the information indicated that the price escalated based upon how many months of free membership you had up to a certain maximum. If persons starting in the business wanted a free membership they could get it and may get work in their area based upon how busy everyone was and how far down the list a scheduler may have to go. The idea was that free members may also be willing to work with lower paying companies that the premier members may not be interested in accepting. Many calls at end of month could dribble down to the persons lower on the list. But, once they were doing well enough to pay a higher fee, it was listed in a range up to $179. Renewals for premier members currently max out at $69.00.

I always wondered the same thing, why does it cost so much
for me to be a premier member when others pay far less.

Re: About Premier Membership Cost
As memory serves (and sometimes it doesn't as well, these days ;> ), the new rates were put into effect during the days when the boards were being overrun with new people. The rapid influx was watering down the usefulness of this directory, as many would come here right out of class and start posting tons of questions like "how do I get started?", "how much do I charge?", "where do I find business?" or even - it seemed - "what is an acknowledgement?"
So Harry made the decision to raise rates so that only the more committed would register as Premier Members, hoping to maintain some significance to that distinction. Again, this is as I recall, and as I understood the action. He also decided, in appreciation for those who had been paying members for a long time, perhaps even when it wasn't needed to have your listing show, to offer a sort of seniority fee to existing members. I hope I'm not stirring up a hornet's nest by saying this. It was controversial at the time, but I thought it made a lot of sense. (And I might have been in the minority at the time.) Actually, I think the base rate has gone up since then, too.
His actions probably helped a great deal, but as many of us know, there was still a flood of wannabe NSAs who didn't last very long and he has had the huge task of purging old profiles of those who were just a flash in the pan. Again, this is all just mho and is probably just a partial explanation, at best.

Hmmm... strange. Albert does not show up in his own zip...
but does show up as closest to 'not-his-zip'??? Wonder if his use of Zip+4 has anything to do with it???

I'll bet you are right Lee.
The zip plus 4 might be the problem.

Re: I'll bet you are right Lee.
With or without the plus 4 of my zip code, I am still 5 miles away with another listed first and closer. I have given up on trying to figure it out. Afterall, with less than a square mile of town and roughly 1200 persons (since the last census) even fringe to fringe, I fail to see how another can be closer. It is what it is.
