Service Stink (Link)--need to vent
The BOA RM's that were being handled by ART/LFC were transferred to FNF/ServiceLink. OMG--what a hassle. I was never signed up with them because they have the most outrageous lowball fees in the industry. Because I work regularly with the BOA LO, they request certain notaries. I had to go through a maze of stuff to get signed up in time for a signing this evening. They have me in a restricted listing "RM's only" & had the nerve to tell me I couldn't be in the database for other signings. When I got back there is a whole list of additional documents they want me to complete--so involved it blows my mind (or what's left of it). We were being listed on the HUD & now SL comes up with monthly billing. I do have the "word" that they will be dumped as soon as another co. can be found. It can't be too soon. I can't wait to tell them to remove me from their database!

Why bother? Are you an employee or a business owner? I'd inform them of MY terms ......they can take it or leave it......which these days, as far as loan signings go, all are leaving it. I do a lot of regular notary work which is cash paid in hand.

That's exactly the issue. They know the deal--I only had to get into their database to accommodate BOA. I'm not going to lose this account. SL will, but I won't. My reply to them was that I was not an employee, and there were requirements I was not going to complete. They are paying my fee--not theirs. I can't even begin to imagine that anyone works with them. It's almost like they are insulting notaries on purpose & maybe don't want us in the industry at all. There are way too many hoops (beyond what is within reason). As I said, I can't wait to tell them to jump in the lake (a really deep one).

I went through the same thing earlier this spring. The borrower told C-wide to request me (I had closed several loans for this lady throughout the years through different title companies). SL told them I no longer did closings and hired someone approx. an hour away at whatever low ball fee he works for (he used to advertise 50 miles for $50). He called the borrower to confirm. She told him not to show up. She called C-wide and said to hire me or she'd call me herself and we'd work it out. SL finally called and was very unhappy w/my $150 fee but they had to pay it.
they used to be a decent company and many of us had good relationships with them. Then the fee lowering started. Then the jumping through hoops started. Anybody see a connection there? Of course, it doesn't matter because apparently they have plenty of closers willing to work for their low ball fees.

A good while back they (SL) called me and would not meet my fee. I turned it down. They called three times and used "bully" tactics to try and get me to take it for their puny fee. Said I was "just stupid" for not understanding the way to do business.
They aren't the only one who has done that to me. TCT has also done that when I wouldn't do a full package of faxing back for no additional money.
If anyone in our office acted out like that it would be immediate termination.

Funny how our experiences differ. Although I have turned ServiceLink down many times because of low fees or just because I was not available, my experiences have always been positive. The schedulers have been polite, friendly and seem to understand where I am coming from. When I receive a call from them now they are usually prepared to meet my fee. Either they have worked their way down the list (most probably) or they want me for a specific signing. Although I do very little work for them I still have mostly good feelings about them.

One time I was at a closing and wife didn't have any id. I called SL and the guy/IDIOT actually told me I didn't need id from her (this was prior to all the patriot act forms) if I could see photos of her around the house, if the kids were calling her mom, etc. I actually called and reported him to his supervisor later ... right after that situation they put notes in their system that "I'm mean".

I'm with Harry PA, while they told me they wouldn't use me
if I requested my rates, they have in fact, continued to use me. The schedulers have always been fine, my only run in was with acccounting over my "un-reasonable" fees. While you must bill at end of month the check always comes promptly. I have and will continue to work for them when they meet my fee.

Re: I'm with Harry PA, while they told me they wouldn't use me
Maybe their procedures have changed. This is an unusual situation. The business was transferred to them in the ART/LFC closing. It was a matter of needing to get with them to do these BOA RM closings, which I had been doing for a particular LO. ServiceLink is downright insulting--their fees, their tactics, their requirements. I faxed them the usual copy of my commission, copy of background check, e & o insurance, identification, W-9. Then I get a package of 13 forms (billing procedures, signing agent conduct, statement of residence & employment, on & on). If they have my NNA certication & bgc, why would they need all that. This is about power & control. I'm not going to play that game. All we are trying to do is make sure these BOA RM closings can go on as scheduled. BOA is in charge, not SL. I don't giving a flying hoot about working for any company that operates that way (it reminds me of the gestapo). Again, I don't know them & they don't know me, but we definitely did not get off on a good start. I'm sure they've posted their comment in my file. I conduct myself as a professional & don't take well to be treated like an idiot. I do think it has a lot to do with the area they're in (Aliquippa, PA). Maybe in that area $45 seems like a lot of money--who knows. I have been told that BOA will be getting rid of them asap.

Yes, you have no idea what is going on. I have said too much already & am not going to say anymore.

I sincerely do apologize for using that phrase so thoughtlessly. This situation certainly does not compare to that horror.

$45.00 fees
I have gotten no work from them in months. I called today just because I was curious about fees. They said they weren't calling me because SIX other notaries around me were taking their $45.00 fees. And $20.00 for edocs. Wow. They also said that was all they would be paying for the RM work they are now getting. Of course I told them don't call me for any of it. Cheap notaries.
