Shrinking Docs

I did the 2nd part of a split purchase yesterday. The other Notary (CA) had shrunk the docs.
It didn't make sense--used legal paper--but the print was obviously shrunk. I'm concerned that the DOT may not record because the print is too small. Just a reminder to those who don't already know this basic--DO NOT SHRINK THE DOCS! If you can't get the proper equipment for the job, don't do it.

May not be the notary's fault

I have received many doc sets where the docs were all scanned to letter size images, but printed on legal paper.

However, I agree, that if docs aren't images, then make sure they print correctly.

I agree---> May not be the notary's fault

I see lots of wrongly scanned docs which *notaries* are not guilty of scanning or printing.

Yes, I understand about scanned docs--they are a pain. It is just in the back of my mind, because I have recently done a few "re-signs" of DOT's because they wouldn't record for this exact issue.

Recording could be a problem, I agree with that also.

know this is crazy talk for notaries in the field, but the reality is that in many counties across the US, these documents can be re-created in proper type size and recorded with the signature pages added to the back.

It's best if IMHO, like MW/VA suggests, if you print the docs at the right size...assuming you have that option.

MW/VA...maybe you should call the TC? I'm asking.

thanks for the note. I had TC send the docs through email - all the docs were already shrunk by the time they came through. I made a quick phone call to the TC asking them if I needed to take a magnifying glass to be able to read the docs. It took them almost 3 hours to resend the docs in the proper format. Since they didn't send the docs in a timely basis, the closing took place almost 1/2 hour late (which I hate - being late for anything) Fortunately, the closing went well and everyone was happy
