Stewart Title-Etitle

Did anyone else receive the email from Stewart Title that stated they had a new lender coming on and they were expecting increasing signing in your neighborhood. Then they are updating their database so an entire new package was sent out including a $10 processing fee request and a background check request that costs $30. I'm curious if anyone else thinks that they are just sidelining some extra income or is it worth sending in. I filled out the info but didn't send the money.

Why pay them? They just figured out another tactic to sep

the $$ from the notaries and more in their pocket... plus prb low fees....

if they have a signing in your area they will call you....and no nonsense of paying for work

I also don't understand the concept of paying $$ to pay your bills but people do that all time....

**I also don't understand the concept of paying $$ to pay your bills but people do that all time**

I hear you on that! It's crazy to pay someone a fee just so you can pay them. I went on line to pay a bill for my wife, I had an option of paying with my debit card over the phone. I started to do that until I found they had a $9.95 "service" fee to do that. No way Jose!

But back to the matter at hand, no one should pay anyone to be in a database. And certainly for Calif notaries, there is no reason to pay for a background check. Our state check for our commissions goes all the way to the FBI database, that's far more than what they do for the $30.00 that they want. BS big time! (as far as I know it even goes to Puerto Rico!!--})

Yes I received the same email I filled out the required papers then sent them the NNA background check cert which was recently completed. Have I heard from them not a chance.
I won't hold my breath.

Sounds like their marketing like NNA. In these slow times it appears they want to make money on background checks. You can get it direct from LexisNexis, you know, for a lot less money.

So much for Stewart being on board with NNA's

BGC. Ha!

As much as the NNA thought they swung a big ol' stick MANY have figured out they can charge their own vendors for the BGCs and make money off the ones who agree with it.

In all my born days I have never seen a group of workers (notaries) abused and taken advantage of like notaries have been from their own supposedly "organization" to the people that hire them to the middleman SS who wants a fat piece of the income.

It has been a nice long run of raping the notary's income.

This is sad to see how many of the unwary have fallen prey to this.

Notaries are basically good and trusting folks. It's disgusting. I have lots more thoughts on the subject but can't expound right now.

Unfortunately many are unprepared to actually make in the business world and through no fault of their own. Many have trusted the NNA to have the notary's interests foremost. Many have been wrong. Anyone who goes into a business without doing the propert background work is going to have a very steep learning curve and that curve can be painful. Even going to the SBA's CORE is a better start than just jumping in, believing some snakeoil salesman that they will make a 6 figure income just pointing where to sign.

They'll get nothing from me.

Because that's what I got from them thus far in 2008.

If they need me...they'll call. To HE## with a processing fee and a background check...

that'll get waived in an instant when there is a need on the other end.

The fee and CBC are as useless as a wet rag in a rainstorm.
