The Closing Group, Louisville, KY
I just today received a check from this company for a 6/04/08 closing I did.... called US Bank to verify if they have funds in the account the check is written on & YES they do, right now, so going to cash the check right now.

Speaking of cashing the check "right now"....I notarized a signature on a letter for a young lady and when she handed me her personal check....it was written with a pencil. I kindly asked, "Is this written in pencil?" Reply: "<giggle> yes, I didn't have a pen."
Of course I asked her to write another one in pen and let her keep the pen. I went (screeched out of the parking lot, burning rubber and missing a few parked cars) directly to her bank and cashed it.

That method works great for you, but I don't have a US Bank in my area. I therefore must deposit it and wait. Supposedly, according to David, I am the only one that has gotten a bad check. Anyone else out there? As of today I am waiting for David to send me a new check(per his email on Friday) and add the $10 bank fee that I was charged for NSF. We shall see what happens. Frankly, I don't think I can trust them at all. Hope I am wrong.

David told me a week ago he was putting a check in the mail for me that day for a May 29th signing i did, but I've yet to receive it. I'm happy that you received a check that was honored. I don't think The Closing Group wants to cheat the notaries, unlike LIA, so I'm trying to be patient. In the meantime, I too have bills to pay.

I don't have a US Bank close by either. I called a Kentucky US Bank and had them run the account number & the amount of my check & said it was good right now. But the employee said, it may be good right now, but who knows by the time it hits the account. So my fingers are crossed for now.
