The Notary Biz in Lake Forest, CA
Anybody have info on this SS. I search the past posts and there were just a few. Anyone with recent experience with them? G/B/U?
Thank you.

I haven't done anything for them in about 18 months because they haven't wanted to meet my fee. Their regular fees are ridiculously low...$50 overnight, $75 edocs. It was always a hassle to get them to agree to my fee, and I've just gotten sick of arguing with low-ball companies. Now I just state my fee. They can take it or leave it; I don't care. It's not personal, and I'm not trying to be an arrogant hard-ass. It's just business. I've determined the amount that I need to make spending my time, supplies and gas doing a signing worthwhile, and I'm not going to do it for less. They did pay everything they owed me, typically at 30 days. P.S. Excuse my rant.

What a joke!! I don't remember seeing this before, but I may have, I don't know. It's irrelevent to me anyway because the signing companies don't dictate what I charge. I run my business, and I set my own fees. If they won't pay what I charge, I decline the signing. It's that simple. To me, this is all completely backwards. In what other type of business would things be done this way? Imagine this scenario... you call a plumber because your toilet is stopped up. He says "OK, I can be there this afternoon. The fee for a service call is $95." Then you say, "The most I'll pay is $50." He'd probably say, "HAHAHAHAHA. Goodbye."

Re: They pay within 30 days. They have a list, call the
cheepo Notaries first and if they can't get it filled then call you. I've been told I'm 6th on the list in my area.

I agree with taxpro. I am adamant about my fees
and would rather just stay home than go out and not make any profit. I also don't quibble and I certainly don't ask what they pay. They will always tell you the lowest number they can. Once I find out the particulars, I tell them what i would do it for. Take it or leave it pretty much. I'm not greedy in my fees, I leave enough room for others, but if I'm going to do this, I will make a profit that is worthwhile to do the job right the first time.
I've been told that I will never be used at my minimum fees only to have that same agency call me two weeks later. It is ridiculous for people to consider themselves 'in business' yet let the customers dictate what you will get paid.

I particularly love this one
"RE-SIGN FEE Lender Responsibility – notary must go back out to see the customer $25"
The lender screws up so we're supposed to redo the entire thing for $25? Hilarious.

they're asking for no show notaries
If they find a $40 notary and for some reason the notary is running late and can't call, some of us don't have cell phone signal in large portions of our coverage areas, 1/2 their fee is reduced immediately. I'd turn around and go home sooner than begin at $20 and hope they don't reduce my fee for additional reasons.

I had been closing for them for 3 years giving them exceptional service. Overtime they began to lower the fee they were willing to pay me for the same level of service. I began refusing the assignments at the lower fee. On one occasion they had already booked the closing with me and afterwards called me to haggle with me to lower the fee that they had already agreed to pay. After I refused to lower the fee which was already quite reasonable, they later called me and said that the closing was canceled. I had to call the borrower and tell her, who was really upset because she had not heard this from her lender. For the rest of that day, the borrower called me constantly asking me had I heard from her LO about why her loan was canceled. Of course I had not....The next day a rep from the title company called me and asked me did I send the fax backs for this borrower's loan closing the night before. When I said to the rep I did not close her and that I thought she was canceled.....He said oops, it looks like the SS used another notary.
Because I had been working with them for so long, when they called again for a signing, I accepted but at a higher fee even higher than before. If they were desperate they would meet the fee. If not, I would just refuse altogether.
Recently, my relationship ended with them completely when I did a return signing in which the TC left out some documents that should have been included in the first signing. I returned to borrower to get this taken care of. I chased payment for this for over 5 months with the Title company claiming to have paid Notary Biz for the job to pay me and Notary Biz claiming the TC did not pay them on my behalf. Finally I wrote the President of the Title Company regarding my payment. The owner of Notary Biz emailed me furious that I did this and told me that she would not be using me any more..... This told me a lot about who was telling the truth and who was lying all along. After writing to the President, I got paid immediately by the President's office at TC.

Called today for closing and wanted to low ball me. I simply stated my fee for requested service and gentleman stated "we can't pay that." I thanked him for calling and if he was interested in doing business my fee is ____.
