I'm interested in reading how it works for you
My neighbor around the corner was telling me about MagicJack. She and her husband use it a lot and are happy with it. I'm still reading and learning more about it, so I'm looking forward to reading about your experience with it, Zee. Was it hard to set up? How is the clarity? Are you going to use it instead of or in addition to whatever phone service you're already using?

I am dumping my landline... so far i like it....I have my cell phone and now MJ.
setting up simple as pie... you get the MJ, plug a phone in it, plug the MJ into the usb port and wait for it to load (2-3 min) then a window pops up based on yr ac with either an ac and cities you choose than it gives you your new telephone # and you have MJ
don't order off the TV as it is the same deal as ordering it direct and less probs from what I read............

Re: I'm interested in reading how it works for you
I just got Magic Jack and hooked up my new cordless phone set to it. The phone has the main base with the answering machine and 3 extra with their own mini-bases. One thing I found out: if one of the other 3 phone bases is not plugged into the electrical outlet, it will throw off all the other phones, meaning, there will be no clarity on ANY phone you use.
My son went to use the phone and he said, "Mom, this MJ doesn't work, there's echoing and ticking". We went room to room trying each phone - same ticking and echoing - then when we got to my youngest son's room, I noticed his base's ac adapter was unplugged. I plugged it in and voila! Problem solved. That's my experience, FWIW.
Hook up is very easy, like Zee described. The MJ is only on as long as the computer is on. Turn computer off and there's no phone line for MJ. You'd have to leave the computer on 24 hours to have 24 hours phone service. I usually turn my computer off at about 10pm and back on at 6am. I haven't made the complete transition to getting rid of the Verizon phone service but I did reduce the plan to the cheapest possible which $20 a month.
