Highly unlikely I would think that's private info. depending on the state. Md there's no way to lookup a notary thru the state.

Ilene, if you go to the SOS web page and click on notaries there is a drop down menu. Click on notary database and you can search for notaries. You can see their name, address, county of commission, and commission experation date.

Wow, I don't like that they put the address of the notary on-line like that. I would have no problem with the city and zip code, and even the phone number, as I have been contacted by several people looking to find the notary who notarized something for them improperly (such as leaving off commission exp date, leaving off venue, etc). I do a search for them on NotRot and Google, but usually find nothing because these are likely in-office notaries that don't advertise.

Forgot to mention that here in VA, you must request contact information for a notary in writing to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.

Florida's thinking is that a Notary Public is an appointed public official and therefore the information is public. However, typically, the notary "list" does not show the notary's street address nor telephone number.

I don't put my address on any of my notary listings because I don't want anyone coming to my house unannounced for general notary work, not to mention having any kooky people show up for whatever reason at whatever hour of the day or night. In this day and age, any state should think twice about putting someone's personal info on the internet. I know that there is already more info about each of us than we want out there on the web, but why the state would facilitate this puzzles me with all the wackos out there.

Hmmm. I'm looking at the CA SOS Notary page and I don't see ANY drop down menu. Are you sure?

What is the Virginia SOS website? Will I see myself listed as a Notary with my address?

VA does not display notary contact info on-line.

If you are trying to get in touch with a notary in relation to a notarization they completed [or didn't, as the case may be...], your best bet is to contact the notary division of the county recorder in the county where the notary has filed their commission. If you have a copy of their notary stamp, it will tell you which county. (But if you did, you would also already have their commission number...)
It might help if we know why you were wanting this information. I doubt very seriously that this info will be posted online, but it is recorded at both the state and county levels.
