Another Deadbeat Company

Well, time to put on my boxing gloves again. I can't get over the gall of some companys. They hire you knowing they have no intention of paying you. I'm talking about a Title company in Texas called Richmond Title Services. They use the name 'Flex Agents Signing Team' when they hire notaries, but they're a Title company. I closed a loan in October and was told they would pay me in 3 weeks. I called a couple more times in Nov. and they kept putting me off. Today, I called again and was told that they don't know when they could send a check. They said they owe other notaries and don't know when anyone would be paid. I told him it was illegal to charge the borrower my fee (HUD) and not pay me. They charged the borrower much more than my fee was. I told him they weren't going to get away with not paying me. Tomorrow, I'm starting on a campaign to make them miserable and drive them out of business. I want them to feel the pain. They're going to wish they never heard of me. Just thought you all would like to know about the criminal activities of this company. Beware of this company. Sincerely, DD

I have linked them for you Flex- in Texas

Too bad you didn't research them via signing central first, before you did work for them. This is a case in point, as to doing your due dillegence before hand. This is directed to all the people who commented on giving a new company a chance. Why put yourself thru this sort of hassle? I don't understand the comments yesterday about taking chances on a company, just because you have time open in your schedule. My time as (well as yours )is worth alot more than all the stress and hassle of having to be a debt collector. I refuse to be a collection agency in training. This is not directed at you DD, I am sure you do not intend to work for free and take chances. Good luck to you.

They key (from the original discussion) was taking a chance on a new company ***when there is no information on the company***. No one said they'd work for known deadbeats.. The most recent comments had to do with not accepting any more work from a lowballer until they paid all outstanding monies.....and then any new assignments would have to be prepaid by the lowballer before acceptance.

I've worked with Richmond for years and never have had a problem with payment. They pay approx. 30 - 45 days and they don't do a lot of quibbling over fees. I've never had to call about payment. Good luck DD, I hope it's just a "glitch".

I've done many signing for this company, I do have to admit that pay has been slower these last 6 months. I had to call once for pymt and they pd within a week. Very nice to work for! I agree that pymt has been 30 - 45 days, but steady work..... I believe the in house ss is now called ASAP Pro Notary Services. I hope everything works out......

Thanks, TX Notary. You were lucky. I think the problem lies in the fact that the market has slowed and companys are running out of funds. Its sort of like playing 'musical chairs'. Someone gets stuck without a chair. I'm the one without a chair.

Did a job for them about 2 years ago. The loan docs were incorrectly executed - by them - wrong interest rate, all sorts of goodies.
They called me a couple days later and told me I didn't have the docs properly signed, etc.
Wanted me to download a whole new set of docs and go back and have it all done again at no charge to them. I refused.
I knew I had not made any mistakes.
About a week later, I called the borrowers and talked to them. They said a new notary came with new docs, and the terms were all different. See, I knew I didn't screw anything up.
Oh, and by the way - Richmond never paid me for the first signing I did.
I would NEVER work for them again. They can't be trusted.

I just posted 5 Signing Services that will not pay me, on NotaryRotary's "Company List". I've been a notary for 2 yrs, and have always been paid, until our "Economy went south".

I'm new to Notary Rotary. Notary Rotary is awesome! I printed out NotRot's "Comany List" , and will consult it before accepting any new assignments. I will not accept any assignment from this list unless at least a 4 star rating. I've marked through each company (my 5) that I'll never work for again...and 2 of them are 3 star.

My biggest concern is that the Signing Services will morph (change to new business name) and continue working as usual. I personally know of a business (not a notary) that has changed their company name under a new EIN, at least 5 times, and remained in the same small town of 22,000. I can't believe they can legally do this, but they do.

I'm also going to write to NNA and inform them of these deadbeat SS agencies. I'm going to call each title company and let them know that the SS they hired is a deadbeat. I'm going to actively recruit title companies for work, and look again for that service that specializes in working for Title Companies vs Signing Agents. Even though Title co.'s may fail also.

I'm out $540 right now, just since summer, when the economy broke down.

Kathryn, the Title companys have gotten as bad as the signing services and are doing the same thing. Some Title company own signing services. When I started out, 10 years ago, you never heard of any company cheating notaries. Now, its a different ballgame. Now, 9 times out of 10, a notary has to fight for the fee. I hope you collect what is owed you. DD

...When I started out, 10 years ago, you never heard of any company cheating notaries....

Are you kidding? How about Randy & Teresa Katz - the originals, Kim Cooke, Darrod of Door to Door, Victory, that idiot lady in AZ that Joan B defended to the end, Notaries'RUs, 21st Century, Elite, that Barry idiot in Florida ...

... Now, 9 times out of 10, a notary has to fight for the fee...
An absolute exaggeration. No one would do this job if fighting for 9 out of 10 orders was necessary. Mine is much less than 1%.

Famous Last Words

"I called again and was told that they don't know when they could send a check. They said they owe other notaries and don't know when anyone would be paid"

Boy if this isn't a company whose doors are shutting, I don't know what is...the money from your signing came from the funds disbursed from the HUD...so if the loan funded they have your money...when they have to start shifting money around to meet obligations you know they're in a bind.

Good Luck with this.

Re: Famous Last Words

Linda, I think you're right. I think because of the market, they are going under. He told me they laid off 1/2 of their staff. He didn't seem to care when I threatened him with a SC suit or anything. He just kept saying "go ahead". I have a gut feeling that I won't see any money, no matter what I do. But I'm still going to try to get it. DD

Re: Famous Last Words

DD, thanks for posting this. I read it earlier in the month and they called me today. I said no-can-do due to your poor payment history with myself and other notaries. The guy wouldn't believe it - said they pay upon funding and I'd get my check in a week. Told him maybe that's the way it's *supposed* to work, but that's not what's happening. Told him I shouldn't have to wait two or three months for payment. He insisted it wouldn't take that long. We agreed to disagree and he kept on dialing.
