Bounced Check Landamerica One Stop, Moon Township, Pa

Just a warning. I know they have become a poor company to work with but this is the final blow.

They told me that they will pay my bounced check plus any charges that my bank charged me. I had to scan and email the bounced check to [e-mail address] per their instruction. The bounced check had the stamp " FROZEN ACCOUNT" on it. Keep you posted.

That's interesting, because they called me last week--lowball, of course, and I turned it down.

This was mentioned the other day in msg#270975. It seems that another division of the company filed for bankruptcy and all of their accounts were frozen as a result -- or so it has been reported.

Told policy of mgn will not pay bank fees for returned check

I am so sick of trying to collect checks. I feel like I'm working for free. Is there any way to get put on the HUD so that we are guaranteed payment?

Just because you are on the HUD doesnt mean that

you will be paid. I was listed on the HUD with Archer, even received my check. Two days after I received the bankruptcy notice, I received the bounced check from my bank. So not only am I out my fee for the closing, I also have to eat the $10 bank fee.

Land AM said to resubmit check, great then I would be out

2 bank fees when it bounces the second time. What do they think I am, stupid!! I only took the job because it was two blocks from my house, now I'm sorry I even did that. Never had payment trouble before, but fees dropped to where I had quit working for them.

The paperwork I received regarding Land America

was very different than what I received regarding the Archer bankruptcy. I do not understand it by any means, but from what I could tell of the letter regarding Land America, its some sort of sale. Not that I have any idea what any of it means. But appears that what they are doing is "different" from Archer, EFS, etc. I dont know though.

Re: The paperwork I received regarding Land America

I received that paperwork today. It looks like they have a buyer for the assets but not the liabilities. Unfortunately we are liabilities. Looks like if the sale goes through we are SOL.

I contacted them after learning that a check had bounced (took almost a month!). They said they would stop payment and issue a new check for the notary fee, but I would have to file a claim for the $10 returned check fee with bankruptcy court, directing me to the form required. I think I may do it, as they had lowered the closing fee to boot!

LandAmerica One Stop, DID NOT file bankruptcy. Antor divison in their many parts of their company did. I comfirmed this with their bankruptcy lawyer. LandAmerica told me that they will stop payment on the check and only pay me for the amount of the check not any fees. I was charged $60.00. I called the local mag. about this. They told me to send them a cert. letter giving LandAmerica 7 days to pay for the check PLUS all fees. If LandAmerica don't pay, then the mag. can proceed with the charges. So don't let LandAmerica One Stop srew us over. Make them pay.
