Credit freeze question

I had my credit frozen because of ID theft. Now that I am renewing my commission do you think I should open my files or DOJ and the FBI does not go into the credit check?

I renewed mine this past November. I pulled my credit reports a few days ago and I looked through them when I read your post, and I did not see any inquiries that I could not identify and none were the FBI or DOJ. However, during the time I was in the military and some work I did for them in later years, I was required to get security / secret clearances and during the interview process for each stage, they knew everything I bought and did and nothing ever came up on my credit report then. But that was a different agency in a different time.

Probably the best thing to do is to call them and ask. Or perhaps you can call and talk to the big 3 credit agencies and get a temporary clearance for those agencies to access your information.

Good Luck ....

My commission expired this past November. I began the process back in April and it took about 6 weeks for the check to clear. I received my paperwork from the SOS about 30 days before expiration and had plenty of time to get insurance and my stamps. Things went according to plan ...

I took the exam on October4th, received the new commission in the mail on November 28th.

My $40.00 check cleared just three days ago, on December 5th. As far as I can tell, they didn't even bother submitting the check until they processed the application and verified the background screening.

I don't think they bother checking your credit files. The address and criminal information they need comes from the DMV, DOJ and FBI.
