Linda, it's four because the signing day does not count, but
really, what does it matter since refis are nearly non-existent due to falling property values and the credit crunch.
I have found, when teaching noobs, it's better to use the KISS rule and counting back means counting to four. For those that just don't get it, download a friggin idiot-proof calendar....I'm sorry if you can't count.

No, not correct. Go to the 31st and count back four days not including Sunday. You're off by nearly a week.

Re: Question=Cr*p I wanted to go in vacation
You need a permanent vacation if you think the 20th was EOM. Hopefully that is just wishfull thinking. Are the 22, 23, 24, 26 days of Dec just supposed to disappear?

Re: Question=Do you think?
also: Do you realy think that people will be working from December 25 to the EOM that should have been the question and it still is. Has anyone had much business during the Last week in December. I have "had" some work but not much during the month of December over the last few years. So how would you call the EOM.
Thank you lots

Re: Question=Do you think?
Last year I had a signing on the 24th & 2 on the 26th. I also had 3 on New Years' Eve. I'm not taking any the 31st this year, as I learned my lesson last year. They were 3 really bad loans that they were trying to push through at year end. I guess they must have thought the borrowers would be drinking or something, and not notice. Anyway, two were no-signs. I will not risk my safety this year by being out on that night.

Re: Question=Do you think?
That is good advice about the 31st. I hate signing with people who have been drinking. I think I will stay home too unless they make it realy worth my while to go out. I don't like people who smoke during a signing. I once had a couple who smoked. They took turns going outside to smoke. It took them 3 hours to sign their loan. I did not know people could smoke so much until I meet them. They also talked on the phone and had to have a full conversation with every person who called them. They never told the caller that they were busy signing papers, they just talked and talked until the call ended. Arrrgggggh.
Last December my last two loans were on the 26th and the 28th, then nothing until the 10th of January then I was slammed.
Has any one heard what we can expect from any Title Company's out there to the EOM. It just is so quite. Everyone I talk to hasn't heard any thing. Just asking. Thanks

You've got to be kidding

You're saying you're going to turn work away on 12/31 because your borrowers MIGHT be drinking? Brilliant decision.

That's your fault. If you 'explained' to the borrowers very nicely and politely that they must sit and get their paperwork signed or you'd be leaving, you better believe they'd have done so.

Re: You've got to be kidding
OR Last Dec I did 2 on Christmas Eve, 4 on the 26th, 2 on the 27th and 2 on the 31st. The 24th and 31st ones were during the daytime hours. This year may be different, but wishing the 20th is EOM is just that, wishful thinking,

Re: You've got to be kidding-no....am I right or wrong?
Thank you Linda I a glad you were busy last year. Blessings for another big bang this year too.
I live in a county that is not very populated. We have only 198,615 here and we have 16 Notaries in this area. I do have my share of business and then some. I have built a great business relationship with a fair amount of Clients. I also network and cover for other Notaries which helps.
Don't get me wrong, I will not be turning down any work at the EOM. My Sister and her family will to be here from Alaska on the 22nd. I am looking forward to her being here. I just don't want to worry about work.
I just had an overly packed week last week. I had to turn down 5 Clients because I was too busy. I hate doing that. I did contact them all this week told them sorry. They told me not to worry. I just would rather have been able to be there for my Client every time all the time. I know you all think the same way. It is tuff out there now days.
QUESTION: Or wish Vacation and the EOM---Am I right or wrong? If you want to close before Christmas 24th last day to sign is the Saturday the 20th. Christmas is the 25 26th is a Holiday 27th is Saturday (do you think that any one will go into a title office and be working?) 28th is Sunday (we don't count Sunday) 29th (RTC is 2nd) 30th (RTC is 3rd) 31st(RTC is 3rd) So I guess I was wishing *Yes Becca I can think for my self and read a rescission calendar

Re: You've got to be kidding-no....am I right or wrong?
Sign SAT 12/20....rescission ends Wed 12/24...fund the 26th....if you want to close AND FUND before Christmas, signing must be completed by 12/19 and with a little luck it will fund Christmas Eve.
12/26 is WHAT holiday?? And Yes, some TC employees MAY be in the office on Saturday 12/27 due to the two short weeks, and EOM **AND** year-end...maybe not funding but wrapping things up in addition to possibly getting those last minute deals done.
12/31 is funding day for those loans closed on 12/26 - otherwise they don't fund until 1/2/09.
In all honesty, JoAn, IMO you should enjoy the time with your sister and don't worry about it...if you've been that busy you need and deserve the time off.

Re: Question=Do you think?
Geeez, I was joking here. The reference was that the loans were so bad you would only sign them if you weren't sober. It is too dangerous on the roads to be out on the 31st.
