Richmond Title Services - Plano, TX
Received a call from them while shopping at Costco. Also gave another name - Flex Agents Signings. I asked all the particulars - type of loan and how many pages, FHA (heard much about large FHA packages).... package O/N to borrower and within travel range. Then we got to the fee - scheduler said $85 (to some that is acceptable, not to me), told him my base fee for O/N is $XXX. He then said he could go as high as $90. Told him, "I'll pass." Then asks me to wait, put me on hold and then came back with an approval. Told him to send confirmation.
Went online on my Treo - right here. Checked Signing Central and did an "orange" search. Didn't like what I read so I called while still shopping at Costco and gave the job back. Also replied to the email confirmation and here's what I wrote:
I have already called your office and returned the job to you. I have researched your company on the notary forums and your company is rated 2 stars. Comments from other Notaries indicate you have a poor payment history - you do not pay your Notaries as agreed - they have to chase after your company for their pay....not good at all.
Here's scheduler's reply:
I wish they also posted comments once payment is rcvd, we understand your frustration and will remove you from our system. Thank you
I guess that's my punishment (removal from their system) for not becoming a victim. When I called to give the job back, all the lady said was "Ok, we'll get someone else". Sounds like job returns and finding another sucker is all in a days work for them.

In my opinion, you are one that has lost. I have never had a problem with them paying. Yes, they are a little slow, but I will work for them.
I know and realize that we all have to be careful and I am. When a new company calls that I have never worked for before, I ask a lot of questions and look them up also. But, I have worked for Richmond many times and have never had a problem.
Again, JMO

<<<In my opinion, you are one that has lost.>>>
With negative comments dating back to 2004 and the most recent negative comments starting with thread 270930,...........I lose? Hardly!! It is never a loss to keep oneself from becoming a victim. Glad you've had a longstanding, working relationship with RTS and it's great that you get paid. And it's understable that having had such a longstanding relationship, that you'd cut them a little slack. But it makes no sense whatsoever, to walk into a new relationship with a company knowing that they have payment issues. I don't want the work if I have to constantly chase after the money - which is extra work in and of itself.

Lisa, I have done 6 for Richmond all year. If you call that a longstanding relationship, so be it. I have been paid without a problem for every one of them except the last one which is not due yet. Again, IMO, you lost money.

My comment of a "longstanding relationship" was based on your statement in other posts that you worked for them "many times". You gave no number or timeframe, therefore, my impression of "many times" had nothing to do with the number you gave after the fact*. Again, glad you get paid - I suppose most companies with mixed reviews have a few people they pay regularly, and have problems with the rest. Not interested in being anybody's statistic.

You were right to reject this assignment. Don't listen to the idiots who enjoy not getting paid for six months and do nothing about it. These are the people who embolden these signing companies to try to stiff the rest of us.

I resent being called an "idiot" for accepting assignments from Richmond. This was certainly directed at me UK and an apology will be accepted. I am not going to argue with either one of you (its Christmas). I am only stating what my experiences are with them. Never had a problem and that's the truth.
Why in the world would Richmond pick "ME" to pay and not anyone else when I only did 6 all year for them? Does not make sense. I have never ever waited 6 months and never will either. The first time it takes 6 months will be the last time. 45-60 days is slow, I admit, but they pay, is my experience with them. Take it or leave it.
This conversation is over. Each of us makes the best decisons we can based on what we have to go on. My decision to work for them is based on 6 experiences this year with NO problems. How can that be wrong?

I posted this to the Richmond thread below, but thought I'd post it here too.
Linda,
I had your same attitude about EFS and Archer and look where that got me....stiffed for $725 with EFS and $125 with Archer. I have worked for Richmond for at least four years and have only had one payment issue, but the recent posts seem to follow the same pattern of an ailing business. Good TC lowers rates they are willing to pay, they used to pay in 2-3 weeks now it's more like 45-60 days, next you see multiple posts of no pay. IMO, the writing is on the wall. I try to learn from my mistakes.

Becca, You could be totally right and I certainly will take your advice and watch them. I just received a check from them and everything seems ok, for now that is. Thanks Linda
I'm sorry you are out so much. It is hard to eat that kind of money. I am out $125 from EFS and thankful that it is only that much.
Merry Christmas.

<<< I am not going to argue with either one of you (its Christmas).>>>
Since when is a respectful dialogue and difference of opinion arguing?
<<< I am only stating what my experiences are with them. Never had a problem and that's the truth.>>>
I don't doubt you've had a positive experience with RTS. No one is denying you the right to sing their praises. I've said several times that I'm "glad you get paid". That wasn't meant as a snide remark but a sincere one.
<<<Why in the world would Richmond pick "ME" to pay and not anyone else when I only did 6 all year for them?>>>
While some companies burn many bridges, they don't burn them all.
<<<This conversation is over.>>>
Only for you if you stop responding.
<<< Each of us makes the best decisons we can based on what we have to go on.>>>
Exactly my point! I didn't like the reviews *I* read and made the decision based on them.
<<< My decision to work for them is based on 6 experiences this year with NO problems. How can that be wrong?>>>
It's not wrong if that's what you choose and I never questioned your judgment. I just choose not to start off working for an entity where I believe I would have to chase after my money.

I don't think her reply was meant for you Lisa, I think
it was meant for cowboy.

"I just got paid for one I did in late Oct and have 1 outstanding that I did middle of Nov. I'm not worried at all." "I am still owed from an April closing."
The remark was just a general remark. But from the above statements I can understand your assumption.

Nope, my "assumption" came from your post that states
"You were right to reject this assignment. Don't listen to the idiots who enjoy not getting paid for six months and do nothing about it. These are the people who embolden these signing companies to try to stiff the rest of us."
I'm thinking that Linda didn't cotton to the "idiot" remark but then that's just my opinion.
