Something bizarre

Last Friday I accepted a closing (confirmed and set things up) for last evening at 5:30pm. I get a call around 12:30pm from title co. that docs have been sent to my e-mail. I was out to lunch when I took that call. When I arrived back home at around 2pm I received a call from an unknown #. The caller called me by name and asked if I had printed the docs. I told her no that I had just arrived home and was headed to my computer. She said good because the closing was a no go. This was the only closing for the day. Disappointed, I did not question the call. At 5:20 the borrower calls and asked if I am coming. I told her about the cancellation call. She said she had not cancelled anything. Both SS and title co. said that neither had called me to cancel. SO, who knew my name and who knew I had docs sent to my e-mail. Sounds like someone put my name with another closing and called me rather than the correct notary. I did close for the borrower around 7pm. I had no reason to question the call as I did not have another assignment on the books. Docs were sent to my e-mail and someone knew it and was glad that I had not already printed. Strange but I will now confirm a cancellation with another phone call. Unless I am dead I will show up for a closing.

Isn't this biz just wonderful at times. It is beyond us sometimes on how things get so messed up. We're all human. I learned a very long time ago to just go with the flow. It's not my fault. I wonder how many times the majority of us have gotten dressed, undressed, and dressed again to go to the same closing. lol Makes life interesting that's for sure.

If I have previously confirmed with the bwr, I also call...

them , just to make sure that they know.

Re: If I have previously confirmed with the bwr, I also call...

When the bo cancels with me I instruct them to call their LO and then I get on the phone!

I set up an appointment the other day and the bo did not want to sign. I called the correct parties..only to get a call the following day as to why this signing did not occur?? This was for a loan mod application. Luckily I keep good notes (its a must).

This business is great..And I love it!

Re: If I have previously confirmed with the bwr, I also call...

This particular caller said that the borrowers had cancelled therefore I did not feel the need to call the borrower with cancellation news since the cancellation would have originated with the borrower. There are so many variables to closings and our actions vary according to what we are instructed to implement or not.

I always call the borrower also to make sure that they are aware. Sometimes they are not!

That's one of the problems working with agencies

Lack of prudent communication.
My best guess is that a different closing was canceled, and someone at the agency
called and canceled the wrong appt. and wouldn't fess up.
