Tony, why you?

Just curious how the Justice Department choose YOU, to be the spokesman for price fixing. Smile

What Price Fixing Is

There seems to be some confusion on this issue of price fixing and the NNA.

"Price fixing" occurs when the members of an entity, formal or informal, agree on a price for their goods or services. It is invariably a collusion designed to drive non-members out of the market, thus corrupting the marketplace.

Unless it can be demonstrated that all NNA members abide by its fee schedule, and thus unfairly corner the market, the NNA legal team will be able to bat this fly away with a single swat.

Don't think I'm a friend of NNA. Far from it! See my other recent posts. IMO the organization is a racket, and with the latest BGC scam, can tap into an unlimited resource by exploiting notaries nationwide --including its own members.

This whole thing sounds soooo dumb. OMG, the bottom of the food chain might be price-fixing! Undoubtedly this has something to do with the mortgage disaster...probably the reason a 750 billion bailout was needed---those dang notaries. Yes, we need to look into this very thoroughly (and get the spotlight off where it belongs). Sheesh....

Despite the NNA's "Suggested Retail Price" for our

services, the information generated by a nationful of NSAs on boards such as NOTROT, will reveal a 'range' of pricing with many variables. One of the sins of the NNA is that they set the bar for fees so low, all the while promising 6 figure pay; meaningless "certifications," end-all-be-all BGCs, and overpriced merchandise. I'm sure I left out some others. JMHO.

Everyone who thinks we NSAs get paid too much, raise your hand. (waits an appropriate time...)

No hands.

Maybe price-fixing is just a place to start. For instance, trying to get a 'mandate' that *their* BGC is the end all be all...pretty much trying to eliminate all the other opportunities for competition - as if they've got a corner on Homeland Security. And, they sure have a lousy rep for answering general and specific NSA questions from around the country - tons of documentation there.

I think the NNA has crossed a few lines over the last 5 or so years, and maybe I'm not alone there.

As for targets, isn't it a rare investigator who tips his entire hand, and wins the case? I'd guess it's not we Notaries that are a target component; after all, we're the working stiffs with our boots on the ground, getting the deals done. It's those pesky lines that may or may not have been crossed by the NNA.

Go DOJ! "Indictment" is becoming one of my favorite words...

Just a guess….Maybe because he’s ‘worn both hats’? He is/has been, a “Notary Signing Agent”, and also runs a SS. He’s been successfully doing it since the ideas conception, and he has a sterling reputation. Who better to ask, than someone that’s …been there….done that?
