Why, Oh Why!!!!

My busiest day scheduled for tomm in almost a year & we're getting a major snow storm w/almost 1 foot of snow & 1-2" of snow fall per hour. Perfect!!!! Looks like my busy day, just got a little less busy :-( I'm not cancelling anything yet, but I won't go out if the conditions are too bad either (been there, done that). Hope you all have nice weather to end the month.

Last Friday I drove more than 90 miles (one way) to a closing because the title company couldn't find anyone else. So I plan on going where no one else is able or willing to go. And I'll be charging a premium too.

Good luck, and stay safe.

Better watch it Bluemoonray......

It's snowing in Las Vegas right now.......May only be a bit of time before we here on the Left Coast fall victim to the travails of our Right Coast friends... :-)

Re: Better watch it Bluemoonray......

If you go to weather.com, you will find a map that shows that over the past 2 days 75% of the surface area of California had at least 4" of snow. We had about a foot here in the High Desert yesterday.

MYTHS about CA weather

<<<That's why I live in Ca.>>>

Please be advised: The entire state of California is NOT summed up by the weather of Los Angeles. SOUTHERN California is not sunny and nice all year long. It does snow in SOUTHERN California. I live in Upland, 15 minutes from the mountains (Mt. Baldy) - SNOW; I can stand on my front porch and see the snow capped mountains - seems like I can reach out and touch them; 40 min. drive to Crestline - SNOW and 40 min. drive to Wrightwood - SNOW; the 15 Freeway at the Cajon pass - SNOW. Two days ago the highway patrol shut down the 15 freeway at the 2,000 ft. elevation level - if you didn't have snow chains, they would not let you through and you were stuck sitting there. Friends that live in Hesperia - SNOW....Big Bear, 30 min. drive - SNOW. Angeles National Forest - SNOW and subzero temperatures. And this is SOUTHERN California. Don't get me started on where it snows in northern CA.

The entire state is does not Hawaii - like weather everywhere...all year. Now that you have been informed....go forth and prosper.

I have heard that CA has four seasons : brush fire, flood,

mudslide and earthquake.
Word is if you don't like Chicago's weather, wait 10 minutes.
8 to 12 inches of snow due today. Had a storm Tuesday. Trip that
normally took 20 minutes was 4 1/2 hours.
Luckily , I missed most of it.

Re: MYTHS about CA weather

Heh. I've lived in California pretty much my whole life and I love the sunny stereotype it gets. Few people realize that in the 4700 sq miles of Los Angeles county alone you can go from sunny beaches to mountain camping grounds to snow skiing to water skiing to an arid desert hike to lake fishing all in one day, and all within 90 minutes drive (or less) of where ever you happen to be. It has 4 rivers, 2 islands, 5 mountain ranges, 2 national forests, a national recreation area, the beginning of the Mojave desert.

Not that I'm trying to sound like a travel brochure, but LKT is sooo right, there's so much more to the area than sunshine.

<<all within 90 minutes drive (or less) of where ever you happen to be>>

heh, heh.... unless it's a day like the last couple, and you're trying to go through the road closure trhough "the grapevine" on the 5. (Admittedly, though, that's in a different direction.) Thousands of people are stuck on the side of the road with no where to go! I have to admit that, except for the truck drivers who are trying to earn their living, it makes me wonder about some people. Either they don't listen to weather reports or they're clueless!

Having said that, today was one of the most spectacular days I've seen in a long while. Perfectly clear skies -- and even the relatively smaller mountains behind me (5 - 6000 ft range) are capped in snow. It's nice to look in that direction and notice something other than the scarred areas that burned last year...

To add...

The 15 freeway is a MAJOR thoroughfare to Las Vegas and Arizona....and many of the elementary schools take their 5th graders on overnight field trips to Crestline during this time. All the 18 wheelers have to pull over when it gets shut down due to snow so obviously their delivery schedule is all messed up.

Are there snow chains for 18 wheelers?

I hear ya - snowing like crazy at the beach in OR...a

truly weird sight...

I've got to go over the mountain to get to Tillamook...gorgeous but nasty. Just hoping all of those 4-wheel-drivers slow down -

Be safe and warm, everyone.

it just warmed up to 12 above today, was 9 below yesterday. Looks like it is time to break out the shorts and t-shirts again before we get 3-6 inches tomorrow.

In my corner of Ohio I am in the snowblet area. We already have a storm warning until tomorrow night. Sky looks like its about to open up and let loose. I have a 4x4 truck and we are used to this and love the challenges. No signings for tomorrow..Yet
