agreed
while no one should ever notarize on a date their signers aren't in front of them , going to jail is not going to happen (I know, technically it can in certain states but in reality it won't) unless you are part of one of those huge defrauding schemes. More 'signing agent' paranoia.

I asked about this once.
I called the SS and I said I know it is a crime to backdate, and I will never do it, but I just wanted to know more about it. The SS told me that if I back date, all the borrower has to do to get out of the loan is say that they backdated. Then they are out of the loan, and the notary, SS, loan people, title, and basically EVERYONE else is in trouble. So now when I am aksed to backdate, of course I tell them no, (I tell them it is a felony to backdate, and a misdomeaner to suggest it), but I also tell the SS that someone wanted me to back date.
And I agree: risk penalites, fines, jail, losing my licence, and basically everything that I have built in my life for dumb strangers who could care less?
No way. A clean consceince is the best pillow.
