I have a Tom Tom One that has saved me many miles and dollars. It generally gets me to within 500 feet of my destination in very rural areas. I do think the technology is improving daily and would like to have the top of the line model but feel this will work for now. ricknbama

Really like my older Garmin 2720 that allows for updating on the Garmin website. Costco had them in the online store for big savings last year (was about $300).

Got a Garmin Nuvi 350 for Christmas and it has really made a big difference. I love how it shows the streets you are approaching which is especially good at night when the street signs are hard to see. It is also good when you are in a situation that the destination changes, you are on the road, and no way to print a new map. I think it was well worth the investment. Jacksonville is so large that although I was born here, I am still learning the quickest way to get from one area to another.

I have Garmin 650. I love it too! Larger screen and announces streets by name. Walmart online ($418.18) offers free financing for up to 12 months on purchases over $250.00 (Walmart credit card), also get free shipping if you ship directly to a Walmart store near you. Hope this helps!

This Thread Was Just the Impetus...
...I needed to get me "off the dime" & purchase a GPS. I didn't purchase the Garmin though in spite of all its support. After doing some research I ordered the TomTom One through Amazon.com for $169.00 (Including shipping & tax).

Nuvi 750.... I don't like the bulky units.
Also Garmin uses Navteq maps unlike TomTom.
The Garmin 6xx, 7xx, 8xx are the best IMHO.

Re: Nuvi 750.... I don't like the bulky units.
I have the Lexus system which doesn't have a map but just a voice activation system.
I think the first (non essential) purchase a mobile notary/loan-signer should make is a GPS system.
It makes our life so much easier.
Also the voice is not cranky or judgemental!

The GARMIN 330 is great, but the GARMIN 340, for a bit more money, is even better. The 330 only tells you to turn right or left, but the 340 tells you to turn left or right on "ELM STREET". The 340 announces the ACTUAL STREET NAMES...I have found it to be a bit better...(I was always turning left or right too soon with the 330). Just my opinion....! Either unit is AWESOME! No more Mapquest printouts!

Now that you mentioned MQ, reminds me that I used Garmin's St.Pilot, when it had batteries and I carried back up batteries (actually had to use them once) so maybe that's why I still make a paper copy, just in case. Although I like the one from Goggle since you can make an over head shot. That's cool. I've got the 2720 also but would switch if business picked up. I always check with Consumer Reports to see what's recommended.

Any GPS is better than no GPS when you are directionally
challenged as I am. I have the 330 Garmin also. Got it on ebay refurbished to save some $$. It's a good value.

I completely agree with you Frenchie...
I value my GPS and frankly can't believe I ever functioned without it, especially out here in the rural areas. It's money well spent and I too purchased mine from E-bay and I'd do it over again in less than a heartbeat.
